...Oh, does anyone care that I don't run an e-brake with a stick? I turn my wheels in a safe direction on hills.
All Corsas originally came with a single master cylinder. Unless you have upgraded to a dual master cylinder, you lose everything if you blow a brake line, a brake hose, a wheel cylinder, or your master cylinder. Even with a dual master cylinder your pedal would likely go nearly to the floor under such a failure. Wouldn't you feel better if you still had the cable-actuated emergency brake available to you? It is not just a parking brake.

A couple of bricks...:)

An e-brake would be best. And yes I've updated to a dual master brake cylinder.

LOL I carried a couple of bricks for a while when I was daily driving a powerglide car that needed a full cable set. Took like 6 months to get a round tuit!!
Corvair guy since 1982. I have personally restored at least 20 Vairs, many of them restored ground up.
Currently working full time repairing Corvairs and restoring old cars.

New Brake Lines Done! Yellow Half-shafts Next.

Post by GasDaddy140 »

Hey Everyone,
I Got the new brake lines finished in this miserable Nor Cal heat wave. Yay! Got to get new U-joints in my yellow half-shafts next. Then I'm pushing it out of my garage for a good cleaning so that I can push it back in for some more complicated Corvair work. For a lazy person I'm doing pretty good!
I'll report back on my heater fan problems soon.
I want to see the Corsa protect sitting out in the driveway so that god can see it too! And maybe forgive me for all the damn swearing. Very, very bad swearing I did at troubled times working on the car especially around screws.
Now I thank the lord for all the sheet metal screws and fasteners that I've had to mess with. Because there is road to run.

Post by GasDaddy140 »

:tu: Dropped it down in the garage for a look.
Hey Corvairs!
Needs the half-shafts in and a bunch of other Corvair nuggets.
But soon I'll be tooling around in one the the coolest, most exotic American production cars ever!

Good Stuff-Brakes-Half Shafts-And Procar Seats Ordered

Post by GasDaddy140 »

First of All I hope that Everyone is doing OK, a lot of devastated areas adversely effecting a ton of people.

Just to keep going on my build status I'll say, got rear brakes, new u-joints on the half shafts, and a sweet set of Procar '90 gray seats ordered with Corvair brackets (a little pricey for these, but damn-it, I've been busting my butt). A couple of "hot-rodder" neighbors lent a big hand with the u-joints. Only had to buy 5, we busted up the needle bearings on one pretty good. 3 AC Delco and 1 Moog, all with zerk fittings.

Still need a gas tank...of some sort...and filler neck. I also have a bunch of suspension bolts and nuts to cinch up-not sure where to start.

Hang in there!
