Ok, let's see if I have this correct.
Here is what the VIN and Body Tag says for my 65 Monza says:
VIN: 105375L105686
1 = Chevrolet
05 = Monza
37 = Coupe
5 = 1965
L = Los Angeles (Van Nuys, CA)
Production number 5686
Body Tag:
11B
ST 65-10537 LOS 3232 BODY
TR 795- W-W PAINT
E 2EMPS 3C
4P
11B = Mfg Date of November, 2nd Week (1964)
TR 795 = Slate 6 (Interior Trim)
Paint W-W Glacier Gray
Group 1: E= A01 Tinted Glass - Windshield and sides
Group 2: E= C64 Air Conditioning
(though I have no indication A/C was ever installed. The car may have been
prepped for a "dealer install" but I need to get behind the dash to check)
M= M35 Powerglide Automatic Transmission
P= Z01 or Z13 Comfort and Convenience Group Type A or B
S= Rear Antenna
Group 3: C= B70 Padded Dash
Group 4: P= Z01 or Z13 Comfort and Convenience Group Type A
(outside rear view mirror, 2 speed wipers with washer,
day/night inside mirror, backup lights, glove box light)
Anything I missed or need correcting?
I would really like to get a better idea of what the Slate interior and Glacier Gray look like besides swatches and paint chips.

This is a well documented and photographed 65 Corsa Coupe in Glacier Grey exterior and Slate interior.

As for the A/C, if the body tag shows the code the cutouts and main components would have been installed by Fisher Body, not a dealer. There was no prep for a later dealer install. A dealer simply cut the holes and added all of the components to any Corvair that came in for the dealer option. That type of install does not show up on a body tag. Even when Fisher Body did the install, the cut-outs in the body looks really nasty as they were done with a torch or saw after the body was assembled.
Look under the dash or inside the trunk for clues. If it had A/C you should see signs of the old holes and such. In your engine compartment pic I see what looks like the old holes from where the copper lines used to be. See my additional photo for where the A/C lines would enter the engine area.

Re: '65 Monza Decoded
Dave,
Thanks for the information on the A/C. I have attached several pictures here that should help determined if it was actually installed.
In some cases it looks like the A/C was removed and things patched up; in other cases it just doesn't look like it was installed. My dash does not have any vents (though the center is clearly a makeshift replacement to fit an after market radio (another item on my list).
Thoughts?

Seeing those pics I have no doubt your car had factory installed A/C. You are also missing the spare tire mount in the back and I'll bet you have a spare tire mount in the trunk that was welded in place at the factory. All signs of a Fisher Body A/C install.

Re: '65 Monza Decoded
Yep... I have a factory spare tire mount in the front.
Ok ok... it HAD A/C... - but I really have no plans in reinstalling it. In AZ I'm not sure how good it'd be, its an expensive "nice to have" and I'd have to swap out my dash part for ones with AZ vents.
Even if I wanted it for show, I'm not sure I want the hassle, weight, or cost - considering this is just going to be a modified driver.
Thanks Dave for the clarifications.
