Re: '62 Body/VIN Decode Help
04A means that it was the first week of production in April 1962. The first day of the first week in April 1962 was the 2nd, and the last day of the week was Saturday the 7th. I don't believe that the factory produced cars on Sunday. 712, the code for black
The A and the O are accessory codes, and once again, going by memory........... I don't remember. I think that the A indicated hot air heater, and what the O was for, I don't recall. In the back of my mind, I am thinking that it was whitewall tires, which meant that it got black painted rims, instead of the body color painted rims that were standard equipment with black wall tires.

Re: '62 Body/VIN Decode Help
I will decode the body tag for you...
Here is a breakdown of the information on the body tag you provided...
BODY TAG INFO:
04A
Body Build Date: 04 = April, A = First Week
The first digits are numbers 1 through 12, indicating the month of manufacture. The letter is A-E, indicating the week of the month. If the letter is an "A" it indicates the first week of the month.
STYLE 62-0927 BODY WR 66760

Model 0927 — 2-Door Monza Club Coupe — 4 Passenger, 09 = 900 Series Monza, 27 = 2-Door Club Coupe,
WR = Willow Run, Michigan, Production Sequence No: 66760
1962 Monza 2-Door Club Coupe — 4 Passenger, Total Production: 144,844.
TRIM 712 = BLACK
This 3 digit codes represents the interior color and seat type.
Black: Duco® Code - #44
PAINT 923-7

ACC: AO
Willow Run body tag accessory codes
A = Direct Air heater (Always listed 1st and listed on every WR car in survey)
O = Manual Transmission
========================================================================
The VIN tag is located in the left door jamb.
In addition to the metal VIN tag that the factory riveted to the door jamb, there is a hidden duplicate VIN location.
This is the EM (Early Model, 1960-1964) hidden VIN location — behind the front cross-member on the driver side.
Note that the hidden VIN number only includes the manufacturing plant ID letter (W, for Willow Run) and the Vehicle Number. The first portion (model year, trim, and model) can be extracted from the manufacturer's Body Tag in the engine compartment.
20927W239139
Your car is a 1962 Monza 2-door coupe.
It was the 139139th Corvair built at Willow Run that year.

Re: '62 Body/VIN Decode Help
I further researched the ACC codes on the internet, "A" denotes direct air heater, "O" denotes manual transmission.
What does the production sequence number mean?
Very interesting to hear that the corvair was built the first week of April.... I have the Bill of sale dating the sale of my car on April 12th. Either my car was custom ordered by the original owner or Corvairs were selling like hot bread!!

Re: '62 Body/VIN Decode Help
With 144,844 1962 Corvair Monza coupes produced, this number exceeded any other model year configuration total in the ten year production cycle!
1962 was the peak car production year between 1960 and 1969, and in that year the Monza coupe accounted for almost 50% of the total production!
