All 1961 Vair owners or anyone who knows where a 61 vair is.

Post by ral1963 »

I am working on decoding the ACC codes for the Fisher Trim tag on the 1961 Corvairs produced at Willow Run, Oakland, and Kansas City.

I am in need of examples of Trim tag data for the following specific factory installed 1961 options.

# 1 A Kansas City built ( KC ) 61 Monza with factory AC
(I have both Willow Run and Oakland examples but would like more to double verify my data, buy do not have any examples of a KC build)

#2 Any 1961 Sedan or Wagon with factory front Bucket Seats

#3 Willow Run builds with factory installed Gas Heaters instead of the Direct Air Heater.

Please send pictures of Trim tags to RAL1963@comcast.net (or post here ) and details about the car regarding the following possible options.

Please answer all of the following questions..(these must be factory installed items, not added on by owners or dealers)

Does the car have Direct Air Heat or Gasoline Heater?
Does the car have factory Air Conditioning?
Does the car have clear glass windshield?
Does the car have tinted windshield only or tinted glass in all windows?
If the car is a 500/700 car or 500 wagon does it have the C & C equipment package?
(This was standard on Monza's and I believe Lakewood's)
If the car is a 500/700 4 door does it have read door armrests?
If the car is a 500 series does it have Deluxe Body Equipment?
Does the car have 3 speed, 4 speed, or Powerglide?
Does the car have a padded dash or non-padded dash?
Does the car have folding rear seat or non -folding rear seat?
Does the car have front bucket seats or bench seat?

Could you, would you post a list of the meaning of the letters on the ACC line of the '61 body tag that you have confirmed so far?

I can't post all of them until I can actually confirm more of them, right now I only have a few positivity narrowed down and by process of elimination have reduce the number of choices between the remaining codes. I need actual examples matched to cars.. I have over 50 trim tags and the codes but am struggling to narrow down exactly which are which specifically.

Here is the first breakdown of Oakland Plant and Kansas City Plant ACC codes to date. The Willow Run ones have proven more troublesome due to lack of supporting data to this point..

1961 Fisher body tag ACC line. (Oakland Build )

• H = RPO 113 Direct Air Heater (100% of tags has H)
• B = RPO 704-797 Front Bucket Seats on 969 Sedan
• D = RPO 347 Deluxe Body Equipment or RPO 664 Folding rear Seat TBD
• ? = RPO 664 Folding rear Seat or RPO 347 Deluxe Body Equipment TBD
• 6A = RPO 427 Padded Dash
• 4C = RPO 114 Air Conditioning
• EZ = RPO 398 Tinted Glass (all windows)
• EZW= Shaded Windshield only
• S = Possibly RPO 651 4spd (8 Found on 61 OA Monza coupes, 1 Monza sedan)
• ? = RPO 248 Rear Door armrests on 500/700 4 Door

1961 Fisher body tag ACC line. (Kansas City Build )

• 1A = RPO 398 Tinted Glass (all windows)
• 1B = Shaded Windshield only
• 10H = RPO 113 Direct Air Heater (on 100% of tags)
• K10 = RPO 651 4 speed Manual Transmission
• 6A = RPO 427 Padded Dash
• 12H = RPO 704-797 Front Bucket Seats on 969 Sedan
• 12L = RPO 664 Folding rear Seat on 500/700
• 31C = RPO 248 Rear Door Armrests 500/700
• 32A = RPO 347 Deluxe Body Equipment
• 4H = RPO 114 Air Conditioning (need another example to verify)
• 44A = RPO 114 Air Conditioning or ? (found on later style AC unit) (need another example to verify)

No padded dash, no back up lights, no glove box light, no auto courtesy light, no windshield washer, one side view mirror, and wind deflectors attached to the small front window vents(?).
