RK 110 motor with 140 head?

Post by vair60406 »

Hey all, I have a sandrail with this engine code. As far as I can tell, it's a 110 motor(RK) with 140 head and 4 Rochester carbs.

The short block (cases, crankshaft, and camshaft) for the 110 hp and 140 hp engines were basically identical. The distributor, cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds, carburetors and carburetor linkage was unique to the 140 hp engine.

Thanks. I thought that's what I bought. It's in a sandrail and has the 140 head with 4 Rochester carbs. Just gotta see how it runs now. I'm thinking electronic ignition. Any advice on what ignition I should buy?

Crane XR700 is simple and very reliable.

Reviving this old post to say, I finally got going on this project that has sat for far too long. What can I say? Life gets in the way, sometimes. I'm looking for tips and advice regarding this sandrail. I've pulled the drive train, the block, crank, cam and pistons are at the machine shop. Next will go the cylinders, then the heads. In the meantime, I'll be dismantling the rear suspension and getting it ready to be painted/powder coated. Haven't decided yet. I'll post pics of the suspension and would appreciate help making sure I locate the right bushings, etc for rebuilding em. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Cheers.
