63 Body/Tag

Post by AndyF »

please see attached (63 Spyder)

I know:

712 = Black Interior
948 = Palomar Red Exterior

First group
E = RPO A01 Tinted Glass ( Soft Ray glass in all windows)

Second Group
C = RPO Padded dash
L = Manual trans (VN only)

Third Group
C = RPO Turbocharged Spyder option
P = (VN only) might be Comfort and Convenience

What does [ 30 ] stand for?

Regards,

Andy

1E = built in January, the letter equals the week, e= 5th week. January of 1963 has 5 weeks.
63-0927 = 63 spyder coupe
VN = it was assembled in Van Nuys, California 8875 = assembly sequence number

You've got the rest and I also do not know about the 30 in the Accessories. It may be a second set of third group of accessories with an O not 0. Do you have something unusual with the car, that could be classed as an accessory? some obsure ones have not yet been documented.

Many thanks :tu: ....The only option I could think of would be the blinker for the emergency brake...

Hi Andy,

You may want to look through this document from the GM Heritage Center (http://gmheritagecenter.com/docs/gm-her ... orvair.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and see if you see something on your car listed on here. Your parking brake warning light is listed, but under the dealer installed accessories. Those would not show on a body tag. That tag was for Fisher to know what to install on the body that only they handled. You can see those listed in the section above the dealer installed items, but it's not always totally clear which were installed at the factory and what was installed by Fisher Body.

BTW, where are you located. Maybe take some pictures of your car. It sounds interesting.

Does you 63 Van Nuys built Corvair have these options?

RPO Z01 Comfort RPO Convenience Equipment:
Outside Rear View Mirror
2-speed Windshield Wipers and Washers
Back-up Lights
Glove Box Light
Inside non-glare mirror

The "30" was an internal audit code that was only relevant to the plant...
