Yes you have an LA built car and there were no 65 Spyders made. I personally found the earliest 65 model year Corvair made which was Pilot #3 and it was a Corsa turbo.

It is a turbo car. I was under the assumption all turbos were spyders?
Apparently not.

The 150 hp 145 CI turbocharged Monza Spyder was introduced in 1962 and produced through 1963. In 1964 the Monza Spyder engine displacement increased from 145 CI to 164 CI, but the horsepower rating remained the same at 150 hp since the turbocharger capacity was unchanged.

In 1965 the new Corvair body style was introduced. The Spyder name was dropped, and the top of the line Corsa model was introduced. The Corsa was produced only in 1965 and 1966. The standard engine was the 164 CI 140 hp 4x1 carburetor engine. The optional Corsa 164 CI turbocharged engine now had a turbocharger with greater capacity, which bumped the horsepower rating from 150 hp to 180 hp. When the Corsa ended, so did the turbocharged Corvair option. The 140 hp engine was optional in the Monza and 500, and continued in 1967-1969 in the remaining Monza and 500 until production of the Corvair ended.

Speaking of rumored 65 Spyders...we should mention that there has been a tale around for many years that one or two "Spyder-badged" 1965 Corsas left the factory but this has never been proven. There is an old GM Design Studio photo around the internet of a mocked-up 65 Corsa where it looks like the Spyder emblem was on the lower fender. That is possible as the design studio was always putting stuff like that together ahead of actual production orders so that the marketing folks could see various options. It also doesn't help that Clark's Corvair sells a decal for those who claim they really have a 65 Spyder. ::-):
