I have just been grinding it off where I need to weld, probably should 'media blast' the whole car, but no time or money for that,
might do it after it is all together and running, then tear it back apart and detail it, but for now grinding works.

Here you can see that I have removed the shock towers and front frame rails from a 944 and transfering them to the Corvair.
To get the ride height right (about 3.5 inches lower), they are positioned above the existing rails, so the original ones must be cut away.
But it fits in there perfectly and the track width works out very well.
