Why not? Up till he got elected and even still today, everything that happened during Bush's term was his fault. Just ask a Democrat/Progressive. They are one and the same anyway.
You're so worried about the country being divided, yet no one noticed over the past 20 years as the Democratic Party was eaten from the inside by Progressives. The Elephants on the other side were also guilty, but to a much lesser degree. The push from the Left was very intense during the '08 season as they saw their opportunity for a massive Leftist power grab, what was the Right to do just bend over and take it? That's where the divide got its start, the Left pushed and the Right pushed back. Unfortunately I don't think there's any going back now, the gloves are off and we've slid so far to one direction they will have to redefine 'Left' as the new 'center'. Values which were once traditional Right wing are now by contrast branded 'extreme'. Many Dems have tried already, I'm not buying.
Then there's the blatant Leftward tilt of most of the national media. I'm not going to be ashamed about making statements like 'objectivity in the media is dead', not when you have people like Chris "thrill up my leg" Matthews, or Lawrence "I'm a Socialist" O'Donnell crowing about how great the Democratic candidate was in 2008. Granted it's mostly in the opinion section of the networks in question, but I'm glad they all finally showed their true colors.
The same could be said of Fox news, and I'm willing to accept that. But as Chris Wallace once said when asked which way Fox tilts: "we just add some counter balance". I think that about sums it up, though you'd need one hell of a counterweight.
