Why not? Up till he got elected and even still today, everything that happened during Bush's term was his fault. Just ask a Democrat/Progressive. They are one and the same anyway.

You're so worried about the country being divided, yet no one noticed over the past 20 years as the Democratic Party was eaten from the inside by Progressives. The Elephants on the other side were also guilty, but to a much lesser degree. The push from the Left was very intense during the '08 season as they saw their opportunity for a massive Leftist power grab, what was the Right to do just bend over and take it? That's where the divide got its start, the Left pushed and the Right pushed back. Unfortunately I don't think there's any going back now, the gloves are off and we've slid so far to one direction they will have to redefine 'Left' as the new 'center'. Values which were once traditional Right wing are now by contrast branded 'extreme'. Many Dems have tried already, I'm not buying.

Then there's the blatant Leftward tilt of most of the national media. I'm not going to be ashamed about making statements like 'objectivity in the media is dead', not when you have people like Chris "thrill up my leg" Matthews, or Lawrence "I'm a Socialist" O'Donnell crowing about how great the Democratic candidate was in 2008. Granted it's mostly in the opinion section of the networks in question, but I'm glad they all finally showed their true colors.

The same could be said of Fox news, and I'm willing to accept that. But as Chris Wallace once said when asked which way Fox tilts: "we just add some counter balance". I think that about sums it up, though you'd need one hell of a counterweight.

A few of my favorite quotes that are more and more appropriate these days:

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does not good to work because someone else is going to get what they work for...that's when America fails.

My favorite bumper sticker:
Socialism doesn't work because eventually you run out of other people's money.

Specifically, I could see myself casting my vote for a Libertarian if their views on foreign policy weren't so screwy. Yeah, let's allow North Korea to do whatever they want. I'm sure that will lead to stability in the region. On the other hand, I'm against nation building because there simply isn't enough money in the world to make it work. These are choices you need to weigh as you sit in the ballot box, or preferably long before you get there. Suffice it to say, nothing will change by voting for the 2 main parties we have today. There really isn't a lot that separates them now, it's a sad state of affairs.

I also believe that there are two reasons that get MOST people into politics!!!
1. Money. Done right, there is plenty of money to be made in politics. Plus, you really don't have to put much time to make quite a bit. Although it does take a large quantity of capital and time to GAIN a political office.
2. To better one's country. I'll easily admit, I haven't been around all that long, but it seems to me that this cause has a FAR smaller calling. The (seemingly) few politicians that have this calling don't seem to get all that far or to be around for that long. The even smaller percentage that make it over those hurdles seem to stall out in the process of defending their virtue. Being as when a politician comes up against a threat it seems that their first instinct is a visceral one of attack. In Teddy Roosevelt's time it was referred as "Muckraking." See reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muckraker" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; We've all seen it done.
Until we (as a government, and as a WHOLE) can make the draw of a political office or position the latter and not the former, I believe that the problem of corruption and politics for personal gain will FAR outweigh the calling to better one's country.

Oh but if WE THE PEOPLE IMPEACH HIM! We are all Racist! you see we now have a one way street! even though he is a mixed breed with a black marxist father and a white mother,he concider's himself Black,so if we impeach him we are all Racist and a disgrace to America! But its ok that george zimmerman was 1/2 white and 1/2 mexican,so he is a WHITE hispanic that likes killing black americans, even though the black on black murder rate in chicago,Obama's home town is the highest in the nation is never reported in the main stream media, its called the democratic Media Twist! if you are half white your white,Political correctness at its best!

Dave, I have been screaming about this since Obama showed up!! He is HALF black, but I believe it is MUCH more beneficial for him to be ALL black.

Things have gotten much worse since I first posted to this thread. I bought a nice 25' cabin cruiser in May 2011 with a seized 454. As things went south in the Vegas construction world, my commission check shrunk month to month. We were able to buy the parts and rebuild the engine and spend our 30th anniversary on Lake Mead on Halloween of 2011 for a few days.

Since then it is questionable if we can afford the fuel & staple to make the trek. Now the the weather is nice (October is awesome on Lake Mead) the "Make it Hurt" program is in effect and the lake is closed. Boat has about 60 gallons left from last trip so we could get out if we had a place to go.

This wasn't a rant, but things aren't going too well in in our great country.

I am and prefer to be starboard.
