Not today, but one of the more fun sections of my drive home. Southern California freeways often suck, but the Waze app takes you off road. This is one of my alternate routes home. Lots of twists and turns that are a lot more than what the video indicates. Even so I always catch traffic, usually with out pushing hard. This day traffic was pretty open so I had fun.[share_youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=196c4IMkjBk&t=50s[/share_youtube]

Well let me give this another try. Since I drive my Corvair almost every day, and I have a dash cam I get lots of shots of where I drove my Corvair. Here is a typical day. Driving to work in the morning and heading home in the evening. My wife and I have driven cross country many times and the sight of a mattress has brought us many laughs. We have seen many ways of transporting and not transporting them and often ending up like these samples here. The drive home shows the typical perils of SoCal driving. Since returning to Cali, all three of my driving vehicles have been involved in an accident. Pretty intense year and a half.

Gave my 2 year old a turn at the wheel. She loved it! Just wish my driving age son had some interest!

Had a beautiful Saturday here in SoCal, so I took the Corvair up the hill behind my house. A few miles drive up a winding mountain road takes me to an overlook I look up at from my backyard all the time. I took a number of pictures and one person took a picture of me with the car. Why ruin a good picture by putting me in it. Here you can see about three minutes of the drive up.

Due to Corona virus concerns the annual Corvair Springfest show at the end of April will not take place this year.

Title this One BAD Bicyclist!!!

Driving home and look what this and had to deal with this. Even though she clearly ran the red light, she blamed me when I passed her. Watch her run a second red light at the very next intersection.

 I used to commute about 15 miles each way via bicycle from my Austin home to Bergstrom AFB (now the Hilton Austin Airport). That was about 150 miles a week, but I would not have lived very long if I rode like that idiot. Your speed was about 45 mph and she pulled out right in the middle of your lane after running a red light, and then rode right through another red without stopping. I wouldn't bet on her having a long life! You would think that health, fitness and exercise would be important to her and a major part of her lifestyle, but it would all be for nothing if she ends up embedded in someone's windshield!

There are many bicyclists in Southern California who routinely must share the roads with automobiles, and it can be done safely. Perhaps you could offer your very clear video to a local TV station News broadcast to possibly run as part of a public safety article on bicycle commuting safety. Seeing that near miss might encourage adults and children who ride to understand why the rules of the road also must apply to bicyclists too! Like motorcyclists, the riding mistakes of a bicyclist can have the most tragic outcome.
