Heck, those will buff right out... :rolling:
Looks like the 59 Impalas and the Brookwood Wagon came out a little bit the worse for wear then the Corvairs! :td:
Especially watching the one that got hit in the rear START UP and drive off! :tu:

Cool Stuff. How is the Corvair after your friends helped put the engine in. You driving it now?

Interesting video, not just because it's Corvairs but to see how different the procedure was back in the day.

Where did you ever find this?

I'm sure sorry to see that happen! I had a similar incident in 1970 when I slid into the rear end of a full-size sedan on a rainy day with my poor 1965 Corsa coupe. The whole front-end was crushed in a similar manner. :sad5:

Bummer , but I can relate !

2001 - Cruising along minding my own business on the freeway in Santa Rosa on my way to a Corvair regional convention in Sacramento when a woman 4 lanes away on a divided road lost control
and crossed the median , slammed into a Chevy Suburbarn and then was coming at me backwards . I tried to avoid contact but she musta let go of the wheel and it swerved into me at the last second .

I drove on to the convention but they towed the Suburban off and her Honda Accord was totaled front and rear .

I still have some on the scene video I may get around to sharing someday :dontknow:

After my daughter and I had the crash on Sunday I can see why Some of the safety things are put into cars now. Everything in the passenger compartment is very hard and sharp.

Holy Cr@p that's quite a gash

After my daughter and I had the crash on Sunday I can see why Some of the safety things are put into cars now. Everything in the passenger compartment is very hard and sharp.

A lot of Corvair people are pretty resentful of Ralph Nader but he really was correct about many things .

I read "Unsafe at any Speed" the first time when I was in 6th grade and I have re-read it a few times since then.

Many points he made about sharp objects , bright chrome dashes , glove boxes popping open and severing legs in an accident , etc were problems that needed attention.

Only the first chapter was about the Corvair .

My most recent vintage find will blow you away with some of the test footage .

Cool video. The cars are sure going slow in the crash test though!!

That footage and more was given to me by Seth Emerson of Silicone Wire Systems -- Buy some plug wires from him !

It came on old Sony U-matic tapes that look kinda like a VHS tape on steroids . I had to buy an old player and then convert it to digital.

My latest find is about 8 hours of rare unseen 16mm film which includes much of the early 1960s proving ground footage that was used as
evidence in the Nader/Corvair Safety Hearings that we have all heard about . This started out as an expensive Ebay purchase that led to an even more expensive
private purchase . As of today I have about 8200 bucks into this and that doesn't include getting it digitized .
