Ideas for Bring the SA Group Together

It occurred to me that perhaps you could create an Open Group on Facebook, perhaps called Corvairs of South Africa, or something similar. It would not necessarily replace anything on the Corvair Forum, but perhaps it could serve as a form of Facebook Bulletin Board for SA Corvair enthusiasts where they can actively communicate and post pictures. It would not be frequented by worldwide Corvair owners, like the Corvair Forum is, but would be more locally focused on South African Corvair activities.

Other Corvair-related Facebook Groups include...

Corvair Society Of America https://www.facebook.com/groups/118663409016/

1960 Caveman Corvair https://www.facebook.com/groups/181262738554861/

Corvair https://www.facebook.com/groups/2224315211/

Corvair Nuts of North America https://www.facebook.com/groups/2460383622/

Of course, access to this, or any other Corvair Internet resource requires access to a computer and to the Internet. To create or join a Facebook Group, each user would first have to set up his or her own private Facebook account. There is no cost to do so.

If you are interested in looking into this, see the Facebook Group Basics help area at: https://www.facebook.com/help/groups

If you want to try this, but need any computer or Internet related advice or help, please let me know.

I would recommend looking over some of the other Corvair-related open Facebook Groups that I have provided links to above. If what you see there would have some usfulness to the SA Corvair group, perhaps you can set one up following the guidelines in the Facebook help area I provided a link to above.

I don't see any benefits of using FB over utilizing the forum. They won't have the advantage of the help of the other members either. I think there are way too many Corvair groups on facebook as it is. Are we are spreading ourselves too thin? There are a few countries not allowed to have facebook...there may not be any Corvairs there too though :dontknow:

 You may be right. I was just tossing out some ideas to try to bring a widespread SA group together, but there is a lot of functional overlap between Facebook and the Corvair Forum. I'm seeing more CORSA chapters that run both a conventional website and a Facebook site. But in those cases Facebook seems to permit more direct communication in a bulletin board fashion, while the conventional CORSA club website allows administrators to post information in a one-way approach, but with little format or opportunity for interactive two-way communication. That is NOT the case with the Corvair Forum!
