How do I add an avatar photo?

Post by GriffinGuru »

Hello everyone,

So this has been one thing I have never been able to figure out. Even in a search from other posts there is no info on how to add an avatar photo other than one brief mention of needing a separate special program to do this(?). There seems to be something I am missing here.

Is there way to take a digital photo saved on my computer and re-save under a different format, or crop it down in "Paintbrush" to get the size below the 64mb limit? Especially now with the new site format, I feel like the Riddler with that with the huge question mark in the photo area!

Any help is much appreciated,
Thanks!

There is a little person icon in the upper right of the screen in the top blue bar. Click on that then click on User Control Panel.

Click on Profile

Click on Edit avatar

Click on the browse button to upload a file from your computer. The file size is limited to 160x160px

Thanks for the quick reply.

I guess what I'm asking is how do I reduce the size of a photo down to the size needed for an avatar photo? My current photo is at 1.11 MB, and I think if I recall I need to get it down to 64kb. I tried to re-save it in paintbrush under a lower resolution GIF file, but it increased the photo size up to 1.64MB. Is there a file save option in windows that can reduce the size down far enough?

See if this helps.
Except choose Pixels option instead of Percentage and click the box to Maintain aspect ratio.
