I'd love to have all them in my garage.
Too bad the government here says all cars over 3 years old are junk and are prohibited from import.

(I wonder how much influence the Vice President had in that decree. He owns the Toyota distributor.)

What a collection of fine automobiles. I am honored to even be mentioned with these other works of art and love. Best of luck to everyone.

:tu: VERY INTERESTING THE BREAK OUT FOR EARLIES  agreed, a awsome group of showing here...been talkingwith Scott and we stay touch...but there can only be one.....Richard got my vote, being the underdog here at this moment... we have been in communications on and off and this car i believe came with a amazing story and being out of the USA in another country.... :tu: :tu: Richard did a very difficult job in restoring this car in another country of Bolivia.... nice work.  . our other entries are just as awsome and have stories but this story went to my heart that most things can be done in time....I want to wish you all good luck .... they are all truly great rides......but these corvairs restore in other countries has got be be pain saking job.......... It is all over but the congratulations for the winner of the Corvair Forum – Corvair of the Year (Early Model Division): South African garydup!

Competition was close, with some really great winners in this group!

Sadly, Gary's father, Gert, who kept this 1960 Corvair alive and healthy from the time it was brand new, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013, after a short battle with cancer and total kidney failure. He was still alive when his car won the May 2013 Corvair of the Month award, and I'm certain he enjoyed that well-deserved recognition. I'm sure Gary appreciates the winning votes that further recognized his father's Corvair as 2013 Early Model Corvair of the Year!

Hey Gary
Well done my brother :tu: , that sure is on mean cave-man Corvair.
Yep, I'm sure Oom Gert is smiling down from up there and saying "well that's us South Africans showing them something hey!"
That car really looks cool with that boot lid rack, take good care of the old lady and see you at the next Cars in The Park.
The Border Hot Rods are have a show and shine in PE this weekend and have asked me to bring the "Big Boy" so will do some bragging this weekend.
Take care my brother and only the best for the Dakar Rally.
Cheers now
Henty

hi everyone, thankyou everyone who voted for me,it is very difficult to vote as for me every corvair looks great, more so the ones that have been rebuilt especially those that were almost beyond repear, for instance richards car for me is a real winner as the body needed so much attension,he has some really skilled men ,joes 63 hours of work there, the 61 stationwagon,my dad and i spent endless hours discussing the stationwagon,i think out of all the corvair moddels he liked the stationwagon the best.the black convertable 64 spider beautiful and the 64 rampy ,stiff compitition.i hope after my dakar stint i will have more time to spend with my cars,i have really missed them this year.

merry christmas and a really fruitful newyear to everyone

thanks gary
