hahahahaha Nice one Mike. I did that type of thing once but not in a Vair.. cept I was going at an absurd speed which was like 35 mph over the limit

I grew up in a farming community and a cop had been called out to get a cow off the road. Well I came barreling over the hill and saw the cow and started slowing down before I saw the cop :popo: parked on the other side of the cow... :banghead: So he lights me up and pulls me over... usual bla bla ensues....

Then he says to me "I hate cows and I hate being called out to move them... so tell ya what... you move that cow and I'll write this for 5 over the limit"

You've never seen a 17 year old so happy to move a cow and do it so efficiently :rolling: I could have carried that cow to the next state if he'd of asked me to.

Great Car Kevin. Would have liked to have seen a "race off" though. Congrats to you and also to the "top 4" this year. All of your cars are worthy. :chevy:

And...........If you stop and think of it, IndianaLakewood1961 is the ONLY early in the runnoff.....Sort of makes it the "First Place" in the early class! :tu:

Congratulations to UNSAFE, and all 4 cars are winners in my book... hard to choose between them. But, I'm leaning LM, sorry, lakewood. One of the finest Earlies i've seen though.

Wow ! First place ! :not worthy:

Thanks to all who participated in the monthly contests and to those who made it to the finals !!!!!

I really didn't expect to win - I kinda expected Flashpoint to get it. No offense to all the rest.

Yeah - a race between UNSAFE and Flashpoint would be worth watching :burnout: :burnout:

Flash's car is built pretty similar to mine except he has a roller cam . Mine is likely a little lighter and I run 4.11s.

Your C-note should be safe Marty

So I figure I've had my UNSAFE car for almost 10 years now. The motor has been replaced or modified/rebuilt several times over the years as have most of the other components including 2 paint jobs. The recent paint was applied by me and it was my first time ever.

I've managed to take the car from Alaska to several Corvair events over the last 6 years and even copped a few trophies along the way - mostly Hard Luck awards ! :dontknow:

The first event was the Kentucky convention in 2004. At the drag races on the first day I spun a rod bearing in my 4th run :banghead: I did turn a 14.9 on that last run.

I rebuilt the motor in Missouri and took the Car to the Iowa regional event. It was my first ever track event when I ran at the Marshalltown Kart track and then a banked oval the next day at Cedar Rapids.

The next month I towed the car to the national convention in Portland Or and ran the road track at PIR.

Then in 2006 ? I had it shipped to the national convention where I became known as "the cone killer" . Thanks Ronnie !

In 2008 I trailered it to the Indy Corvair Olympics. More hard luck awards :banghead: At the track the first day I exploded a cylinder and was on the trailer before before the oil even got warm.
I repaired the engine in time to make it to the drag races the next day. I blew off lots of doors and made it to both final rounds but beat myself both times. First to a yellow early when I red lighted by .006 and then when I broke out (ran too fast) against the late Chuck Armer in the WTB race car. My best time was a 14.600 @ 95.07 in the Qtr mile.

Still planning to make it to the Olympics II next year in Indy . There's your chance Flash ! :rafman:

Thanks again to all who participated ~ :ty:

Her's a few pics starting with how it looked when I got it . Stock 140 and Buick wheels.
