Ring gear

Post by toytron »

Does anyone know if the ring gear is reversible in a 65 transaxle?

Ok thanks. The reason I asked is I saw a trike with the engine ahead of the transaxle and that made me wonder how they did that.

Corvair transaxles are flat on top but that one is round. I'm going to say the differential has been flipped over (upside-down). It's a pretty tricky thing to do because you somehow have to get oil up to the pinion shaft bearings. Flipping them is something that's been done here and there over the years but it's not common.

I didn't notice that. I guess I was trying to understand why they decided to use Jack shafts and chains instead of the original axles and hubs. Thanks.
