Bounty Hunter Deserter Dune Buggy 140 Crown Intake Webers

Unread post by eticket » Sat Feb 04, 2017 6:13 pm

I have decided to sell my Bounty Hunter. I bought it from a person in CA, so it has some kind of CA numbers already attached to it. It does start, but the webers (46 IDA 3C1s) need work. It has a 140hp Corvair engine, and a 4 speed. I just recently bought a hard top,as I was going to cut the roll bar out, and put it on, but that will not happen. The webers were used on Porsche's, and are expensive, the 140 HP heads and the Crown adapters for the webers are not really cheap either. I have thought about parting out the buggy, but wanted to give someone a chance at the whole thing. I am asking $8400.00.

The Webers have been sold, so the price has been reduced to $4900.
I am also thinking about parting out the Corvair engine, so if someone wants the 140 hp heads, crown intakes, finned valve covers, finned oil pan, and whatever else, then shoot me an offer. Heck if you make me a decent enough offer, and want to pull the engine, then we might do that also.

About three years ago I saw my first Deserter Dune Buggy. It was at a friends home but in rough condition.
The coolest part about this particular Deserter is that it was a Mid Engine Corvair powered buggy that was reportedly one of only a few made.
Since then, whenever I see a Deserter, it excites me to some degree. These are not the typical "Manx or Manx Style" buggy but are just as cool in my mind. :tu:
The car advertised here on this site appears to be a much more desirable buggy than the reference shown below, simply because of the Corvair association. JMO :my02:

Just as a reference, this is a VW powered Deserter for sale here on the East Coast. It appears the car is at a Junk Yard.

Below is a cut and paste from the ad.
(Note: I altered the way the phone number was done to help reduce the seller from getting unnecessary crap/spam)
