Here is a "cool" little upgrade I recently performed on my Rampside.
Installed an aftermarket sliding rear smallwindow from a 60-66 Chevy/GMC pickup truck.
I also replaced the weatherstrip and added the DeLux chrome bead-lock.
Actually helps a lot with air flow into the cab, plus I can hear the engine now!

That is really cool. I am trying to get the wife on board with this model....right now she doesn't care for them. This thread is helping.

Really nice, Gary! Airflow! On a similar subject, I was looking around a while back to see why (and I don't even OWN a corvair truck) no one has done a "big window" on one of these. Looking at the sheetmetal back there, it would seem like a natural thing for someone to try. Here's the only pic I could find......from that "other" 'vair forum. ::-):

I discussed doing a custom big window on my '64 rampside with my auto body guy before. Maybe I'll bring it up again.

atwistedgrip wrote:I purchased this Rampside last October in Ramona, CA.
Since then I've had the transmission swapped from a early '61 FC (4.26 first gear) and rebuilt.
Also I've had the differential swapped and rebuilt with 3.27 gears.
Mike Moreno of the IECC rebuilt the engine with +60 forged pistons and rods and reground 0T-10 camshaft.
Brake cylinders, drums, and shoes have been redone along with fresh brake fluid.
It pulls nicely through all the gears and stops good.
A few weeks ago I bartered some bodywork with Kapp's Kustoms in Corona.
So far everything is going smooth, except for the ramp door... mucho bondo!
HI I'm looking for a shop to do body work on my '61 rampy is this the same place that did the extensive surgery on your other rampside? I'm in west covina so I'm not far from corona I need some pannels cut out and new ones patched in and some other miscellaneous bodywork. my e-mail is codydogy@earthlink.net I'm pretty sure I met you at tech day in the high desert.Thanx

Actually, the guy working on my '64 lives in Phelan.
Check out his website: http://konokazikustoms.com
He's doing some crazy work on mine and is becoming very familiar with rampsides.
