There was a recent influx of AI bots to the site.
Thanks for being patient while we dealt with them.
They were all from Poland and all came from 1 of 3 IP addresses. Those have been banned and removed. I also went into our anti-spam software and blacklisted 4 counties including the one these all came from.
This will hopeful keep things clean for awhile.
Thanks Scott, appreciate all the hard work you do keeping this a well running forum.

It seems that all the recent "Automated Intelligence" nonsense is beginning to be more like Automated Idiocy and a real PITA while disrupting normal activities just about everywhere one goes these days....Google is becoming more and more invasive as well but that is another discussion.
I always thought that Computers were intended to be useful tools to help, NOT devices to interfere with our activities. In my opinion, Ai (Not AL) needs to be reigned in immediately before it effectively ruins our daily lives.

I guess it is a sign of the times. One has to be forever vigilant in all situations. Thanks again Scott for your hard work and dedication to keeping this site running smoothly.
I hate the idea of things like AI, I'm old fashioned and comfortable that way.
Each month in the Corvair Minnesota newsletter I write an introduction to what the Tech Session at the meeting will be. In April someone else was presenting a session on Wheel Alignment and I wanted to convey the difference in feeling between a Corvair where all is well or a Corvair that feels a little spooky sometimes.
I did a Google search on "a feeling of alignment" and found the AI version best conveyed what I was trying to say.
“Alignment, whether in a personal or car context, feels like a sense of harmony, balance, and effortless movement. It's a state where things are in sync, whether your thoughts, feelings, and actions are congruent, or your car's wheels are correctly positioned”.
It really stuck in my craw to use an AI quote, especially when talking about feelings.
It's such a small example of AI infiltration but it was profound for me.
Now in that same month of April I find myself here wondering if I'm talking to a real person with a real Corvair.
What a world, what a world, I'm melting.

No worries here. I'm considered an artificial entity without intelligence.
Well Jim the A.I. language models (language is complicated with lots of variations so it was a good place to develop "training" data bases to refine algorithms) will be around for a long time. Studies show folks will KNOWINGLY talk to an A.I. to discuss medical or life problems when they are they are not comfortable talking to a "judgmental" human being. The issue arises when A.I. is used to impersonate a real person (cheating in academics), or is used to collect information WITHOUT permission about whoever interacts with it.
The rules are still being worked out, but schools already have software that is very accurate at determine if something is written by A.I. or a real person!!!!
There is nothing wrong with using other information to state something in your own words, we ALL have to learn, the problem is not LEARNING, just copying things without giving credit to the original source. Just my opinion for what it is worth.
