1965 Corvair Monza Spyder Sport Coupe
This is my latest project. I converted my 65 turbo Corsa coupe into a replica of the prototype 65 Spyder that was cancelled in April, 1964. (See Dave Newell's excellent article on the 65 Spyder in the February, 2006 Corsa Communique). This is an original and numbers matching turbo Corsa that I repainted, changing from Madeira Maroon to Crocus Yellow. Almost everything on the car has been rebuilt or replaced. The changes from the Corsa to the Spyder involved removing all Corsa emblems and replacing them with Monza and/or Spyder emblems and painting the dash and glovebox Monza silver rather than Corsa black. The car also has Clark's reproduction real knock-off wheels that were also cancelled at the last minute, just before the 65 Corvair was released. Of course, everyone who sees the car used to "have one just like it", even though they were never built!

Re: Corvair of the Month June 2010
I'll throw my hat in the ring, so to speak. If I qualify of course, being new around here I don't want to step on any toes.
66' Corsa Turbo. I've ownded it for several years, but just got it done in the last few months. I'm the second owner. It has 29k miles on it, but I intend to drive it often. Even though it has low mileage, we had (my father and I) to do quite a bit of restoration work to it. Replaced the brakes, entire fuel system, some of the interior and the like. It had been wrapped in a blue tarp for 16-17 years and even though the body was good, the paint was trashed beyond all recognition. My father and I did everything except the paint, which was done by my good friend Brian.

As I got it
Primer
Paint
Done, needs to be lowered with new rims (no motor yet)
Coming back from Dave Binnies
Lowered
Camaro front spoiler / deleted front headlights
Mocking up the turbo / Intercoller and pipes
Working away
The car:
65 500 from Arizona. ZERO rust!!
Previous owner spent a lot of money on the car. It's got Koni's , Crown bars, new bushings , steering box , GTO finned aluminum drums ...ect..ect I have pages of reciepts for all the things he added.
The motor has a 140 crank , NOS Turbo cam (was new in the tube) , Otto oil pan with spacer , oil cooler , failsafe cam gear, 110 heads fully rebuilt , TRW forged pistons that were fly cut , new exhaust manifolds, NOS crossover that's been wrapped , T04E turbo , 2.5" stainless downpipe with no muffler , Subaru WRX intercooler, Early carbs built for blow thru , sparco seats , Autometer gauges, all new clarks carpet , rubbers and fuzzies. Rear seat delete , Crown rear arm relocator.
sure there is lots more I am forgetting...

I know joepad had also entered his car so I'll put it back for him then I'll start the voting.
*This car belongs to joepad*
1967 Corvair Monza Coupe. Automatic. Bolero red. 110 engine. Restored in 2009. All the exterior trim has been replaced with NOS or repro parts. Front and rear bumpers have been rechromed. The exhaust system is the ultimate exhaust from Clark's Corvair. The interior is all original except for new carpet and mats and reupholstered driver's seat. Front disc brakes have been added and 14" American Racing Torq Thrust chrome wheels. Steering wheel is a new Grant mahogany wood wheel. Also the aluminum headlight bezels have been chrome plated. New carbs and red powdercoated fan. I hand painted a Rat Fink face on the chrome oil filter cover using one shot paints. Many of the engine components have also been chrome plated.

Actually I think you are the first to ask that question. In case of a tie, the earliest (date entered not Y.O.M.) tied entry in the thread gets the win.66corsa57isetta wrote:this has probably been asked before. what happens in the event of a tie?
