Figured that it wouldn't hurt to add my 68 to this little compettion.

She's got a 95hp engine, Powerglide transmission, as well as 3.27 gears. Not a speed demon in the least, but cruises well and gets about 25 mpg.

I bought this car in 2012 from an old man who had parked it in his barn since 79. I've retrofitted a centermount quadrajet, painted the engine compartment, added autometer gauges, as well as installed carpet. She's got a new dual master, a camaro spoiler, cut springs, fully rebuilt front and rear suspension. This baby has just a tick over 24000 miles, 4000 of which I put on myself.

Ok - let's try again - the photos below are of my 1965 Monza . It is highly modified and has a 3.1 liter engine with a pair of Weber 3 barrel carbs .

It has angle tube exhaust and an Otto 30 cam with roller rockers ,stud girdles ,titanium retainers etc.

It has 4 wheel 11" disc brakes along with Koni shocks and 1" sway bars . The street wheels and tires are 15x7 rear with 15x6 front using BFG G-Force KD tires in 225x50 and 205x50 . The race wheels are Cragars in 15x7 front and 15x8 rear with slicks.

The color is 1968 Corvette bronze sprayed by me in a tent in my driveway here in Alaska. It has a carbon fiber rear decklid and a Lexan rear window along with fiberglass bumpers front and rear .

The car has a 4 speed and a 4.11 positrack diff.

The interior has Subaru seats that have been upholstered in matching 65 Monza vinyl and sports a wooden telescopic steering and 4 point racing harnesses .

Ok I'm new to the forum but here is my offering. 1964 500 that was sitting in a field since 1985. Floors were completely gone and the engine and trans were gone as well. I gave the guy the scrap value of the car which was 200.00. I set the body on a 1979 cutlass frame and then fabbed all of the sheet metal back into the car. The floors are the original cutlass floors grafted into the corvair. Everything else was fabbed from raw sheet. I used the steering column from the cutlass and shortened it 5" to make it fit. I made the hood scoop from sheet metal from the roofs of the cutlass and the Corvair. The grill is from a 1996 Cadillac. The gas tank is from a gen. 3 camaro the I modified to have the fill neck come out behind the license plate so it would no be visible.I cut the top off and filled the door glass and rear glass channels and made it a straight roadster. The body/ frame have been reinforced to take care of any flex. I cut the front wheel well lips out and moved them up 2" to allow for full turn radius with larger wheels when the bags are deflated all the way. The car is now sitting on air ride as well. I flared the rear quarters out 1 1/2" to allow clearance for the rear rubber when fully deflated. The motor is a 400 h.p. Sbc 350 with a built th350 behind it. Hand fabbed center console, gauge bezel as well. The only work I haven't performed on the car is mounting the tires on the wheels. Still a work in progress but I should have it done by summer sometime. Total investment 4,000 plus a lot of time. I know it's not a traditional corvair build but at least I was able to save from the crusher:) thank you, curtis

Donavin, nice to see a Michigan car in the fray. Are you planning on coming to Homecoming this year? I'd love to see your car in person. Also, can you do me a favor and tell me how wide the "SS" decals on your rims are? I'm thinking of getting a set of these, or very similar wheels for my car and I might be making up some center cap decals. I'd like to order a set but I'm not sure what the right diameter is.

Thanks, and good luck!

Okay...here's my Corsa which I've not entered here before.

65 Corsa 140 pretty much identical (except color) to the one that got me into this hobby. Way back when I was a wee lad my grandmother owned a 65 Corsa 140 and that's the car she only used on Sundays to take us to church and back when I was maybe 6 or 7. Even then I knew the car was quite unusual compared to others owned by my family and always thought that my garandmother was cool to be different.

Fast forward to modern day when this 54,000 original mile Corsa came my way about a year ago. Unlike my stock 66 Corsa, this 65 had all of the sounds, smells and feelings I remembered from being in a Corvair on Sunday mornings with my grandmother.

I've cleaned it up quite a bit since I got it. I replaced a bad flywheel and painted up the engine and and trunk area while I had it apart. I also did a full brake sysetm rebuild. I wasn't sure about the body color but quickly have grown fond of it. I love the salt-n-pepper interior. I'm trying to keep it mostly stock but recently found some BBS rims and rubber that look quite pleasing to me. The old 13" white walls were 12 years old and probably not safe for the road.

I also was featured with this car and my 65 sedan in the Wall Street Journal last year.

Here are a few pics including one I really like from last Saturday at the club picnic in front of the scenic Superstition Mountains.

I thought I could slip my barn find in before the nice cars showed up. That didn't work out so well. LOL
Might as well add a few more of my car

I have been a member since October 2014, but I have not shared much. So I thought I would finally show some pictures of "SHIRLEY" and enter the Corvair of the Month. "SHIRLEY" Named after my Mom and Uncle Tom's wife. She is a 1966 Monza Convertable with 164 / 110 HP and Automatic on the dash . She is Well Preserved Family Car and Not Restored. Painted in 80's, new top in 2000 . Other than that she is Stock Original with 54K miles. The original AM Radio works fine (if you can find a station besides talking heads) , but I need to repair the Clock. She is a Deep Midnight Blue with Metal Flakes with White and Tan interior. Although this is a New England Car, She has not seen Snow and never goes out in the rain. Best Ride was from Rochester New York through the back roads of the Catskill Mountains and the country side roads and hills to Conn last June. She Purred like a kitten all the way home.

Here's a few shots of my 1964 Monza ragtop for your consideration. Bought it about a year ago as a neglected but running project, painted a faded maroon with a tired black interior, and an abundance of rust. When I took the large 64 only rocker trim pieces off, there were several gaping holes staring back at me. Out came the paint remover, to strip off FIVE different paint jobs. Spent the winter patching, welding and filling, then went to a modern copper/orange metallic pearl to give the old girl a different look. Also invented the slight two-toned interior based on an exterior color of a 1959 Bel Air I once owned. She's a basically stock 110hp power glide with minimal options, but she gets lots of looks where ever we take her. Thanks for looking, whether you vote for me or not. Looks like stiff competition this month!

With regard to the AZDAVE entry above, the link to the Wall Street Journal article comes up partially blocked if you are not a subscriber.

I have converted the Chevrolet Corvair and a Ride Back in Time WSJ article to an Adobe Reader file and attached it here so that it can be seen.

This link provides an unlocked slideshow to view 12 photographs associated with the article...

Have had a couple of requests for some "before" shots of my car, so here is the carnage in all its glory. Its really too bad the wide rocker molding covers up most of this repair work, but you get the idea.

All of the cars entered this month are very fine looking works of art created by a lot of hard work and sweat. Good luck to all.

There is usually one car that clearly stands out to me each month, of course the first time I decide to vote there are FOUR! :banghead: Each one amazing in their own way. This was a VERY difficult decision. Unsafe....I pretty much dream of your engine setup. :tu:

It was a close competition and difficult to choose... but I believe the final scorecard came out about right!

 I love those wheels and the way they contrast with this yellow beauty! It retains all of the original look, but enhances it at just the right level.

Thanks to all those who voted for my car. It was an honor to finish second to such an outstanding automobile. If there is a speck of dirt on it anywhere, it certainly doesn't show!
