Re: Corvair of the Month April 2010
My 1964 110 PG Monza convertible.. This car is going to the painters in two weeks to be restored to the original color, Goldwood Yellow or as close as they can get.. I am new to corvairs and have only owned this car since last may, but I got so into these cars I bought a 61 lakewood in january, so I am full blown in the corvair world with the fever..

Ok, lets try it again. lol.
'63 Corvan, orginaly a Ma Bell van, which explains the cargo doors with windows. The body is beat up from its past life, but overall solid from what I can tell. Its been dropped about 8" by the P.O.
I got it like Oct/Nov last year and have been just going through it to get it up to par mechanicly. Still have a steering boomerang to do, choke coil, carbs rebuilt. And some trim rings for fun. Im sure theres other things Im forgeting.
Last week I installed tiedowns and a seat belt so I can haul my father to car shows and cruise nights (he is wheelchair bound). Which was the whole reason for getting the van. We had been building a '26 Hupmobile Rat rod roadster pickup when he had a stroke, and would not be able to get in it. So it was traded for the van.
Here is the thread on "Sancho" (thats his name, for now). viewtopic.php?f=52&t=362
A before and during and after of the dash
Snuck into Rt 66 speedway last weekend when Dad and I went out for our first cruise. The gates were open and we invited ourselves in. lol.

1962 Monza Powerglide. 37,000 original miles. Runs and drives like a 1 year old used car.
Bone stock except for the '63 hubcaps and headlight surrounds.

Maybelline is a 1966 Corvair Monza convertible with automatic transmission and a 110 hp 6 cylinder, air-cooled engine. This particular car is somewhat unusual in that it came with factory air conditioning.
I purchased Maybelline in 1988 from a gentleman in Cleveland. She had approximately 29,000 miles at the time and was completely original (she even had the original exhaust system!). The paint was old and the body had collected its share of door dings and minor blemishes, and the white top and upholstery had yellowed from the sun -- but the car was solid with no rust and ran great.
The car was repainted in 1988 and got new upholstery and a new top. Maybelline likes road trips, the last long one being Rochester, Minnesota to Detroit for the Corsa convention. Her next road trip is to be determined because she has to compete with her cousin, Bert the '73 Nova, and her friend, Mimi the '96 Miata, for road trip privileges.
Here are a few pictures of Maybelline:

My AirVair is a '64 Monza Coupe with 70k miles. She has the 110hp engine with cold factory air. Took a first place for early coupes at the 50th Anniversary show in Milwaukee last October. Spends the summers hitting the cruise-ins in the Kenosha area.
Re: Corvair of the Month April 2010
Here is my latest project a 66 corsa built to replicate my Dads yenko stinger 160 that he raced in the 70's. I hope you like it.
Re: Corvair of the Month April 2010
I forgot to add this car only has 54,000 miles on it and it was found in a scrap yard, but it was still rust free. There is more pics in the build section of how I built the car.

1967 Corvair Monza Coupe. Automatic. Bolero red. 110 engine. Restored in 2009. All the exterior trim has been replaced with NOS or repro parts. Front and rear bumpers have been rechromed. The exhaust system is the ultimate exhaust from Clark's Corvair. The interior is all original except for new carpet and mats and reupholstered driver's seat. Front disc brakes have been added and 14" American Racing Torq Thrust chrome wheels. Steering wheel is a new Grant mahogany wood wheel. Also the aluminum headlight bezels have been chrome plated. New carbs and red powdercoated fan. I hand painted a Rat Fink face on the chrome oil filter cover using one shot paints. Many of the engine components have also been chrome plated.

This is my 1966 Corsa that I rescued from a 25 year hiatus in a leaky barn. It was once a company exec's car from 1966 to 1972. It then sat in a barn rusting away for 25 years. A young kid then got his hands on it and he "played" with it for 2 years, until I discovered it and bought it from him. I bought it in 1999 and had to tow it home it was in such bad shape. It was one of the worst Corvairs I have ever run across in terms of rust and body damage. It took me 4 1/2 years to turn it around. It draws a lot of attention when we take it out for a ride. I have added a few options while restoring her but everything is 1966 original or restored.
I finished it about 5 years ago and it is a pleasure to drive.
It shares my garage with my 1966 Monza vert with a 140 and P/G

Re: Corvair of the Month April 2010
This is our 63 Monza Coupe. It's just a daily driver right now. We are the 2nd owners of this car, my wife found it at a tractor junkyard, just sitting there, it was all original, and the only things we've done other than the normal "vair" stuff, is to paint it and put new wheels on it, We've shown it 3 yrs in Helen Ga. ( got 3 rd place peoples choice once ), Once in Maggie Vally ( got 3rd place People choice ). Our grandkids LOVE riding in it since we added the rear seat belts.
Hope to see everyone in Helen, GA this month!
