Blown 61 Corvair??

Post by 39deluxe »

First visit to this site - just wanted to touch base with the experts re my Dad's Corvair - see pic - can you tell if it is a 1961 as I recall it to be? sorry - this pic is from 1962 so its a bit unclear.

Also - this car had a Judson Supercharger installed with dual exhausts. I remember it was quite fast - beat most cars off the line. How much power would this have put out assuming just the supercharger was bolted on - don't recall what the carburetion was. I remember it had a glass bottle we had to fill with Marvel Mystery Oil for the Judson.

I'm no expert on early models but the hubcaps do look like 1961.

The Judson supercharger was an aftermarket item . There were many horsepower claims , some were as much as 30 HP.

The bottle of MM oil was to lubricate the blower bearings and also used on other cars as an upper cylinder lubricant.

I've posted some articles in the media section about supercharged Corvairs including the Judson and others.
