Hello

Post by Mathew Gibson »

Hi my name is Mathew Gibson. Im a new owner to a 65/66 corvair. I've been around corvairs my whole life, but actually to own one is awsome. I pulled my car out of a feild, and put it togather in peices. Its a four speed 110, 102hp with a 65 trany. It has 327 rear end gears. Inside my carbs are #14 jets. I got it running great, but the c clip on my lifter poped off and snapped my pushrod to my intake, and snapped the head stud off. Also loosened my exhuast rocker rocker arm. I have some pics there not good, because my garrage has shitty lighting.

Welcome Mathew !

FWIW - often when the lifter retaining ring pops out or breaks it is the result of another problem like a stuck valve or improper adj. Especially considering your broken stud and pushrod.

I got one old motor that had been sitting for almost 10 years to start and run fine but I did have to replace the carbs that were totally corroded inside. Corvair motors are pretty tough.
