New to Site

Post by 66corsa57isetta »

Hello everybody, my names Michael Barney. im 18 years old and i live in fort wayne indiana. im proud to say im a corvair nut. well, more like a car nut in general, but corvairs and BMW isettas are my main passion. I have a silver on black 66 corsa and a 57 BMW isetta 300. ive been into old cars my whole life, i got into them because of my grandpa and my dad. Growing up, i went to cars shows with them in my dads 69 GTO convertible and my grandpas isetta which i inherited from him in 2002. about a year ago i started getting the corvair bug and it has gotten worse ever since. i found my first corvair last may with the help of my freind Keith Miller and ive been loving it ever since. i love driving it to school and seeing the students and teachers reactions when they see someone my age in a corvair. haha! i just love cars that are "different". this winter ive been working on the car alot. redoing the engine compartment, new wheels and tires (still waiting for the tires to arrive) and a few little odds and ends. i hope to get to know some of you on here and hopefully be able to get some tips and ideas!
-M. Barney

PS: ill most likely be asking some corvair rookie questions on here so bear with me! lol

Welcome!!

I'm a little familiar with the Isettas, we used to work on one that was used by the Portland Pirates hockey team here in Maine. Cool little car.

Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Welcome ! I think there are more than a few Isetta / Corvair owners out there .

I thought you might get a kick out of this photo from 1957 and what was written on the back. That's me at 2 1/2 years old.

haha thats funny, an isetta is a very noisy car. when i was really little i hated my grandpas isetta for the same reason......obviously that changed over the years. thats a very desireable isetta by the way, bubble window with the "z-mold" trim, very cool!

it has a ragtop sunroof, all isettas came with one but the size of it depended on which body type you had.

You can find some cool Isetta pics here - click on seller's store.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1957-1958-BMW-Isett ... 3ca258d12a

It's where I get many of my pics of Corvairs too. A search of the sellers store for mini car or micro car will bring up several more similar cars. I've already saved most of the good ones.
