Nebraska Newbee

Post by Bob Roegge »

I got my drivers license in 1964. My folks bought a new 64 Impala SS convertible. I was campaigning for a Corvair Monza Spyder! Wisely they ignored me. Ever since I have wanted one and after only 53 years one finally followed me home.

Restored 2009-2012 (4,500 miles ago). Came with binder of documentation and receipts. Engine, transaxle and clutch done by California Corvairs. All rubber in car is new, so it is tight and quiet. Not a show car but very respectable none the less. Everything works as new except....heater fan motor is not blowing very strong and the steering wheel has a little play. I will fix those issues soon.

Drove it home 150 miles. Was a real enjoyable trip even with an AM radio.

Only complaint so far....the wheel covers are 62-63. Would like to find decent set of 64 spyder wheel covers.

Hi Bob. Where in Nebraska are you located? I’m in Omaha and can’t seem to find anyone in the hobby. I finally bought my ‘65 Monza last March! I was hoping there was more like us in my area. Sean-

Papillion....

Don't see many Corvairs around here. There is one 64 convertible at Don and Mille's almost every Friday night during the season. Looking forward to that and Coffee Cruise on Saturdays this summer. Hope to see you there. Bob
