66 conv front panel

Post by monzadon »

I am restoring this 66 Monza conv and the front lower panel has a lot of rust holes and the only replacement part is a fiberglass lower panel from Clarks, My question how do you attach this and what should I use to finish off the edges, I am thinking of using fiberglass matting and resin, I am concerned about the edge cracking

I would try to find a usable steel section or panel. If you insist on using the fiberglass panel Some sort of mat or cloth and resin over the seam is a good plan. I am really not a fan of fiberglass replacement body pieces on steel unibody cars... remember pretty much the whole car is structure.
Corvair guy since 1982. I have personally restored at least 20 Vairs, many of them restored ground up.
