Hello from the Netherlands

Post by Roelof »

Hi,

Just bought some nice project. A '66 monza convertible with 140 engine. All original, complete and looking good, but some issues to tackle, like rockers, new top....etc., Really looking forward to driving next summer. And a fun job for this winter.

I might have some questions...

Regards,
Roelof

:welcome2:  Welcome to the Corvair Forum!

I look forward to seeing pictures of your Corvair and hearing more about it. I would also suggest telling us a bit more about yourself. Doing so helps us to improve communication if we know something about your background and your personal assessment of your mechanical skills, your experience with classic cars, and your intentions, plans and objectives with your Monza. Such information will help us to tailor our comments to better fit your needs and hopefully to be more-useful to you.

Thanks for the info.

I have owned and worked on classic cars for about 15 years now. Some european classics (fiat, opel..) but also american. Mostly Mopar. Most of the time driving project cars. It is something I grew up with. Now it is a hobby that has little to do with my daytime job. I do have mechanical skills though. Rebuilt engines, transmissions...etc. Bodywork and welding skills are somewhat limited, but I can do a decent paintjob.

I always liked the lm corvair but here they are few and far apart. The monza will be a car for on the side. Fun to work on for winter evenings, and fun to take the family on summer trips. Doesn't have to be a museum piece though. But as said it has some issues. First step is to get it ready and road-approved.

Will post pictures later.

I'll take pictures this weekend.

Just sold my '73 valiant sedan to make room for the vair. Really liked that car and had it for a long time. Rebuilt the trans and engine and converted it to propane. Had a '64 Barracuda once (very scary) and a van... The monza shares the garage now with the '98 benz family car...

Finally got to it. Here it is.
Original paint, red outside and inside, clean and original 140 engine , automatic. Needs a new top, and some welding.
Nice winter job. Can't wait until summer.
