Re: Shift linkage options...
Looks to be a shifter out of an FC, those are hard to find a gear to start with. My eyes are not so good anymore so lets see what others have to say.

Re: SHROUD ISSUE
There should be tin angle iron that holds the seal in place on each side. They are called side engine seal retainers. See catalog. You can make you own too. They screw on up on the sides.

Re: Drive-in Movie Night in a Corvair
I sure remember lots of those nights in my new 62 Monza. This photo is the sign for the Douglas Auto Theater in Kalamazoo which has been restored & is at the Henry Ford Museum. Everyone just called it the Douglas Drive In.

64 axle bearings cannot be greased unless you have them pressed off. Took a 40 ton press to remove mine, now they are new.

Here's a 61. Looks like you have to get it out and drive it for a few miles then see how it sets.

Looks pretty good to me, drive it & have someone follow you and see what it looks like going down the road. Check the tire pressure too.

Best thing to do is put a fat girl in the back seat. Post another of the rear end of the car so we can see the whole thing, both wheels.

Re: Just Can't Get This Pig Running
Brad, you just hurt my tiny brain. I thought the 7vdc was constant to the coil as long as the ignition switch is on. Then when the starter is engaged the straight 12vdc is pumped into the coil to kick up a hotter spark for starting. Release the starter and it returns to 7vdc. That's what Brad said....

Re: Just Can't Get This Pig Running
So in reality your dist. is about 2 teeth off. Number one on the cap is to the left of the hold down screw, I learned that 60 plus years ago & if anyone has to work on my car they know where number one plug is because that's the way the factory makes them. You guys who move the plug wires around...
