Re: CLARK’S Closed

I can't explain why Amazon can stay open and Clark's can't, but rules are rules and our governor has spoken. Contrary to how we may feel, Corvair parts aren't essential to every day life like groceries, prescriptions, etc. Look at it this way - if Clark's stayed open and just one of their employees ...

Re: New To Forum With 40 Years Of Corvairs

Welcome to the group, John. Speaking of unusual Corvair conversions, several years ago I met a guy at the Corvair International Convention that was held in Sturbridge, MA. He had transplanted a late model Camaro engine and drivetrain into his LM Corvair, putting the engine up front. He also transpla...

Since he didn't mention eBay, CL, or any other sites, I think he's having his issue trying to post something for sale here...

Nitrided Crank ID

I understand that there is an ampersand symbol stamped on one end of the crankshaft to indicate that it's nitrided. Does someone have a picture of that they can share so I can locate it? Thanks!

That is really rare.
Maybe he meant to say that it's running on 4 cylinders! :jawdrop:

Re: Where can I get a Corvair?

Sam, I really like your enthusiasm and interest in these great cars. 14 yrs old is a great age to start learning how to work on them. And you budge is pretty reasonable to start with. You could very well find a running car for a lot less and then you can focus on fine tuning, cosmetics, upgrades, et...

Re: Where can I get a Corvair?

I know of a '65 Corsa 140 for sale here in MA that's solid and rot-free for $3000. You'd have to rent or borrow a trailer to get it home, but this would be a solid start for a project car. The owner is a big Corvair enthusiast and has at least one other that he's keeping. Feel free to PM me if you h...

Re: Tom's 65 Monza 140

Good information - thanks. Years ago I did valve jobs on two of the Corvairs I owned. That was many years after you dealt with rusty nuts, so imagine how much worse mine were. Somehow I was able to get them all off without incident. It's been so long that I can't recall exactly why I was so lucky. I...

Tom's 65 Monza 140

Well the car I had been looking for has arrived. I wanted a late model coupe with a factory 4 speed and 140 engine, and after some searching, locating, and negotiating, I got it! This is supposedly a low mileage (<35K) car that was stored for many years. I have to question the mileage, but the body ...

Re: Seat Belt Seat Belts Please

I bought all the seat belts for my 49 Fleetline from these folks years ago...still good. My seat belts in my two corvairs are 60 inches for the bucket seats.....17.95 each Getting ready to order two more for my 64 as one part of the two fronts are missing and I have come close to a frame off on the...

Check with Morris Classic as well. They have seat belts for the late model Corvairs, and I bet they can provide something for your '62. https://www.morrisclassic.com/

Re: New Member from Massachusetts

Oops...you're right. I'm thinking of New Bedford. Fort Devens was closed years ago and now it's just called Devens. It has become a very large and successful industrial park with many high tech companies there now. Some of the old barracks buildings were still there last time I was in the area. The ...

Re: New Member from Massachusetts

Hi Brad. Thanks for the warm welcome! I agree that we have great roads around here. I have been an avid motorcyclist for years and love the twisty country roads that are close by. I'm able to take a great 50 minute country road ride to work in warm weather and have several ways to vary it each time....
