Did you swap the outers for H4's? You get high and lows on H4's so you dont loose that. Like it.

Electric blue with all the chrome is my vote. I'm not one to take off chrome or black it out. Its what makes old cars what they are, you don't see chrome on cars any more, besides maybe emblems.

Im not sure on late models if front parking light's go off with the lights but the earlies do so I don't think that's a problem. Sounds like you may have bad grounds to the sockets along with a dirty signal switch possibly or even broken. . I ended up soldering ground wires to my tail light sockets ...
