Re: Midwest Mechanic?
HACOA is actually having a club tech session tomorrow. It’s a great chance to meet some of the members and ask questions as well. I’d be there myself but am out of town. Information should be on the website.

Re: Clutch noise?
Those washer thicknesses seem to tell a little bit of a story. To me it seems possible that the one bolt stuck out just a bit more, causing it to rub.

If you look on Google, there have been a few, even Chevrolet itself. A group here in KC called MindDrive is actually doing one. A couple students from Nebraska also converted one last year.

Another tip I remember (though some may not like it) from the tech manuals is to use a Viton o-ring at the tip of the flare.

The nice thing about the vacuum hose is that it’s super easy to replace.

Re: Flat Spot/Stumbling at 1800RPM
I wanted to revive this topic and share my progress in case anyone has similar issues. As is the case with problems on 50 year old cars sometimes the issue is not caused by one source but multiple sources. Ignition: - I replaced the Pertronix equipped distributor that was on the engine with a STING...

Re: A question about the 140 carbs and other 140 topics.
Right, for some reason I thought you had an automatic. The 140 with a manual trans (particularly a 61-3 4-speed with it's lower first gear) is wonderful right off the line. The ideal build (IMHO) is a 140 with a dual-pattern 280-duration cam (Otto Parts/Clarks OT-20, for example) and headers. That ...
