Re: Bad Fuel Pump???
Thanks Ted & Brad. The chokes are hooked up and work great. The car had been sitting for 10 days. I cranked on it a bunch, being careful to not crank more than 10 seconds or so at a time. It had been sitting for six months when I got back from Florida this spring and it started right up with onl...

Bad Fuel Pump???
My 66 140 has run perfectly for the two years I’ve owned it. Today, I put the top down to go for a ride, hit the key it started and died. Would not start after that. Pulled the air cleaner and pumped the throttles, no gas visible squirted into the carb. Pulled the supply line from the pump to the ca...

Re: Ballast Resistor Wire
OK, I’m still a bit confused, but here is what I believe y’all are saying. My car has the red wire going directly to the positive side of the coil from the distributor. As I understand, all that’s said here, is that this incorrect. The red wire should be spliced into the 20 B/P wire prior to the mai...

Re: Ballast Resistor Wire
66vairguy, see photos. My car definitely hast the electronic ignition installed. This is apparently what I have installed on my 66 140 4-sp. I say apparently as I’ve had the car for only 1 1/2 yrs and these boxes, with the OEM parts inside came with an assortment of parts along with the car. Brad in...

Rear Window Zipper
Got back from a ride yesterday and a top corner of the rear window was hanging in the well, zipper is now completely shot. The top is absolutely like new. I see as the only option to replace the zipper is remove the top. I’m assuming a lot of expense involved with that. I’m thinking of getting a lar...

Water Leak
After washing my 66 convertible, I discovered that the carpet was damp under the kick panel front drivers side. I took the kick panel off and pulled the carpet back while someone hoses down the outside lower windshield and cowl area. From the inside I discovered a few drips of water coming from unde...

Re: Convertible top
The PO installed the top on my 66. He is a highly experienced Corvair restorer (he was the regional Corvair Guru). Looks nice, but, he too said it was a royal pain!!!

Re: Tie rod adjusting sleeve
erco, local parts store may have the front end parts you need. GM seemed to use the same steering design for years on all their cars and I think many of those parts were interchangeable........probably expensive however. The sleeve I needed was not in their store, but they had it for me the next day...

Re: Tie rod adjusting sleeve
It sure appears to be cast. The surface is rough compared to the AZ sleeve which is definitely steel and has a smooth surface.

Tie rod adjusting sleeve
Had to buy one in a hurry from Auto Zone. Manufactured with steel $75. Decided to go ahead and replace the other sleeve and both outer tie rod ends after emergency repair So I ordered them from Clark’s l. Clark’s sleeve is cast iron and $26 with clamps. Hope the cast iron is OK
