The seat belt bolts in my 65 and 66 are 7/16-20 and 1 1/4" long. That's quite a bit shorter than the ones you posted.
BTW, I use socket wrenches on them all the time. I don't understand the prior comment about not using sockets.

Re: 1965 Corsa Coupe
Deflashing: Removing surplus material that leaked out when the parts were made. In Corvair heads, this happened where the halves of the mold came together, halfway through the fins. This casting "flash" serves as a trap for dirt, leaves, etc and eventually blocks airflow. Airflow through t...

Re: '66 Sprint Convertible resto aka "my first car/first Corvair"
Ha! Where would I get one of those?
Actually this car's fuse panel was replaced already - it was the prototype-fit check for 65-66 models before I introduced them
Definitely a good idea though!

Re: New member, just bought a 66 Corsa 140 Coupe
Welcome and it sounds like you have a great "new" Corvair. I'll bet you have a Solar Sprint. Solar bought the Fitch business and continued for a few years in the '70s. I've had two Solar Sprints and currently own a Fitch Sprint. Many Solar Sprint's had vinyl roofs and most had Camaro tail ...

The stuff I bought came from https://whiteheadindustrial.com/ The stuff I get is "Flexair" HTNP2 4". $70 per car if you buy enough for two cars. Why two cars? If you spend over $100, shipping is free so shipped price for 14ft is $140. https://whiteheadindustrial.com/neo-duct-neoprene-...

Re: '66 Sprint Convertible resto aka "my first car/first Corvair"
Time for an update! I've been chipping away at the project around 2-3 hours everyday for the last week. Nothing real shall we say, "photogenic" but progress nonetheless. The steering damper is installed. Not too hard once I figured out the clamp went on the relay rod not the steering arm. ...

Re: Heater hose source
I'll have to dig up the source but a year or so ago I bought enough for two cars for about $100/car (Update $70) shipped! It's similar to stock but the cloth is a little thicker. It's also a millionth of a percent larger ID so it goes onto the nozzles without the effort stock hose requires. Very hap...

Re: New member finishing inherited project
Ok... 1st_drive-engine.jpg I see the choke mechanism on the right-front carburetor. This makes it the primary so it has idle circuits, transition, and accelerator pump. This one needs to operate directly with the diagonally-opposite primary and the accelerator pedal. Your right rear carburetor is th...

Re: New member finishing inherited project
Welcome and good job! Sorry about the loss of your father.
I'll note: Mounting the choke pull-off on the secondary is a cool solution. It gave me a double-take as it looked like your primary was in the wrong spot.

Re: Car Lifts
I have enjoyed having a lift for over 25 years. I'd estimate it has extended my ability to do heavy work on Corvairs by at least 10-15 years. I'm coming up on 70 and going strong in the heavy repair department. Currently, I have 9000# 2-post asymmetric "Western" lifts; both purchased used ...

Re: Tag Color Code vs Actual Color
I doubt your car is a tag-swap - the rivets look perfect plus, as you note, the options are all there. Original acrylic-lacquer Evening Orchid was a paint color that didn't last when exposed to sun. Faded fast and then failed. Many were repainted early in their life. It' weird that you're not findin...

Re: Paint Color Question?
Yes, Sierra tan is a one-year color.
In '66, it was replaced by "sandalwood tan", similar but leaning away from Sierra tan's gold to a slightly darker, slightly more brown version.

The Corvair I had with COPO paint had the actual COPO paint color stamped in the tag.

Re: Lower windshield panel - replace or not?
That you are! Be sure to check the fit of the windshield (protect the edges 100%) and the air grille. Note there are supposed to be 1/8" drain holes in both corners. That's how the channel is supposed to drain into the cowl. Whenever I wash my car or have it in the rain, I use compressed air to...
