Re: Sound proof a Lakewood wagon

Edead, Dynamat, Raamat, and other sound deadening products can make a big difference I agree. Make sure the seal around the engine cover is in good shape and seals all the way around. Adhesing a layer of this stuff on the inside of the cover is going to be annoying I fear, the surface must be spotle...

Re: FC/EM diff

So a LM diff and tranny will work in an FC ? .....crazy.... I found a diff at my brothers house out of his old 64 convert. It has a 3.27 axle ratio which is what I want . I was warned on the "other" forum that it would be geared too high for pulling a trailer but I think it will be OK . V...

Re: FC/EM diff

Are you saying the inner yoke of the right side drive axle (the part inboard nof the universal joint) wobbles in the side of the transaxle? A slight wobble here is somewhat normal. More than a little means that somethng is wrong. It is common for FC's to wear the splines on the yoke (may not need a ...

Re: Dallas TX 66 MONZA newbie here!

Not bad. Interesting wheels. Carefull who you use to rebuild if you farm it out. aircooled engines have much closer tolerances than water cooled and some eng rebuilders don't know it and ruin stuff. Also the head gasket area surfacing in the heads is particularly difficult without just the right mac...

Do not hold your breath. It is/has been a long term project (more long term than project) for a while. Likely to be a couple years yet before I get moving on it much. Do not want anyone suffocating:)

Re: What other cool cars do you have/have you had?

Lots of tC's in the Synergy chapter I belong to here in Atlanta. I have not been active much with the Scion in the last couple years, too many home projects (like building a 30x30 garage/shop with new driveway and 200 feet of rocklook retaining walls, 1400 sq ft of brick pavers, 1000 feet of buried ...

Re: Mid-V8 swap, how hard is it, really?

I have had 2 of these cars, both Crowns. One I bought and sold sans nicely built 350 engine. The other I re-built from the ground up (the car was originally converted in 1970 or so) making some modifications along the way. I moved the engine mounting subframe rearward not quite 2 inches to make spac...

Re: What other cool cars do you have/have you had?

My daily drive is this 2006 Scion xB custom touches including the candy paint done by me. It rides on air, 18" wheels, Kenwood/ JL Audio DVD/NAV/sound system, interior and undercar lighting mods. Great little car in my opinion. Very versitile, lots of headroom and cargo space, delivers 26+ MPG ...

Re: starting bodywork

I am assuming that these pictures depict what the car looks like before you start working on it?? Please tell me that you did not do any of this primer etc. into the old crusty rust under it finish. If you did I strongly suggest you start over. A car in this condition really must be stripped to the ...

Re: Exhaust extractors.

I have used both the large and small tip units. I like both. The ones with the Volkwagonish small tips is much quieter. In any case as noted above you must support them well or they will rotate down after a time. Mount them to the engine sheet metal or head near the back of the head and also make so...

Going to post a few pictures of some of my past Corvair projects: "Corvicillin" Mild Custom 1965 110/auto. I sold this car last spring. The new owner took it to CORSA Nats and it went gold (this was a car that I drove daily and kept outside for 35K miles over 5 years since I restored it): ...

My name is Ted. I live in Atlanta GA. I am on the Board of directors of Corvair Atlanta at the moment after serving for a number of years as club vice President. I have been playing with Corvairs since 1982. My first was a ragged 65 coupe. I have owned and restored the following: 64 Convertible 110 ...
