Re: Stuck stabiliser bar bolt.

If it turns freely then it might just be the bolt is slightly worn and miss aligned.Try moving the link around while prising the bolt out with something pushing at the threaded end. Worst case scenario is the bushing inner sleeve is adrift from the rubber and corroded to the bolt , needing to be cu...

Stuck stabiliser bar bolt.

So I'm replacing the front brake lines, and as near as I can tell one must remove the gas tank to get at them. In pursuit of that goal I'm removing the stabiliser bar. The bushings on it need to be replaced anyway. The bolt holding the stabiliser bar link to the subframe on the passenger side will n...

Torque converter seal sealer?

The shop manual says to coat the outside of the torque converter seal [1] with "non-hardening sealer" before installing it. I did a google search and came up with this: http://www.idealtruevalue.com/servlet/the-57619/Detail Is something like this what it's talking about? Thanks, Terry [1] ...

Re: Which heads are these?

the Clark's catalog page is here: http://www.corvair.com/user-cgi/catalog.cgi?function=fetch&find_page=1 , but, oddly, it lists 3880708 as 110 heads, whereas my paper catalog lists them as 95. I guess the paper catalog is wrong, then? Thanks, ragtop. I'm impressed as well. So the difference betw...

Which heads are these?

The number is 3880708. According to Clark's, they're 95hp heads, but according to http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/CorvAIRCRA ... mbers.html they're 110hp, and if I look around, I can find a few people selling heads with these numbers as 110 heads. So, which is it?

Thanks,
Terry

I'm driving to Anderson the first week of July for a family reunion. I'm disappointed that I don't have enough vacation time to leave early and make the olympics :(

Re: 1968 Monza Project

Well, I'm not getting anything done for a while. I just got back from the hospital; I had to have an emergency appendectomy :( I'm not allowed to do anything for 2 weeks.

I also drilled out the rivets holding the broken vacuum advance on to the distributor and cleaned it up.

03-14-2011 Progress

Built an engine cart. The wheel I used weren't strong enough and were crushed. I'll have to get stronger wheels before I use it again. I thought I'd be all clever and add a handle but it broke off when the wheels stopped turning. Fitch Cart 1.jpg Fitch Cart 2.jpg The plastic housing on the starter s...

Good idea, thanks! I hadn't thought of that.

Re: How do I get at this bolt?

They weren't rebuildable as near as I can tell. The pistons were rusted into the cylinder and as hard as I tried they wouldn't budge. The whole thing was fused together.

Re: 1968 Monza Project

Painting is time-consuming! At least my dash is finally reassembled and ready to go back in the car. It's not perfect but it's much better than it was before. Also the glovebox side is finished, but I don't have it reassembled yet. Had some stuff come up this payday so no parts. :( I'll have to occup...
