Re: Bad Fuel Pump???
I like my Facet pump paired with a tach safety switch. I can turn the key to ACC and it will run for a couple of seconds and shut off due to lack of tach pulse signal. Turn it off, do it again if it's been sitting for more than a couple of weeks then it starts right up. This is the tach cut off I us...

Re: Bad Fuel Pump???
If the rubber hose in back is cracked, it's above the level of the fuel in the tank. No drip, but it can suck air there. That's where I'd start.... Also make sure the fuel pump retainer pin hasn't backed off and the pump may not be in it's designed spot. That would make the pumping action less robust.

Re: Ballast Resistor Wire
Glad your experience was better than mine. My Bosch coil was black and puny.

Re: Ballast Resistor Wire
I left the ballast resistor in place and installed a bypass wire to provide the full 12V to my Pertronix. Used the FlameThrower coil with the standard coil impedance and ignition has not been a problem since. I did have a bad stock impedance Bosch branded coil that sucked causing me issues before it...

Re: Surge at low throttle input just off idle
Don't ask me how I know this, but if one of your idle siphon tubes is clogged it will idle on 3 cylinders but when you try to make power off one idle transition slot only it will surge and buck. I'd check to see if that might be your issue. One way to fond out is to cover the carb inlet with your ha...

Re: 1965 Corsa clone, but a sweeeeeet one
I got it out last night after the smoke cleared to go pay a fellow for some pinball machine parts, LED lamp replacement and some rubber rings, and drove the Vair. Running better than it has ever, but still might be room for improvement in jetting.

Re: 1965 Corsa clone, but a sweeeeeet one
Put a little elbow grease into the paint with a Mother's clay 2.0 kit. Didn't read the directions fully so the unit that was supposed to last up to 20 vehicles I destroyed on less than 1. Learned the hard way as the thing is over 20 bucks that I wasted. It did help so I'm going to get another one an...

Re: 1965 Corsa clone, but a sweeeeeet one
I went home, checked the oil, washed the cat prints and dust off, and brought it to work. Hot afternoon ahead, but I'll likely survive. Car is running really well now so pretty happy, but: I might be able to lean it out 1 jet size, it still smells kinda rich. I do have Ray Sedman's WB O2 sensor, jus...

Re: 1965 Corsa clone, but a sweeeeeet one
Haven't posted in some time. Occasionally post on other Corvair forum, but wanted to bring this one back up to date. Been mostly driving my car for the last year occasionally. I needed a torque wrench for my DD Saturn Ion's needed clutch replacement, so I decided to drive the Corvair down to get one...

Re: 65 Corsa Turbo Overheating at sustained highway speeds
Did you clean all the flashing out of the heads when rebuilding the engine? Something to look at if not done. Also check the oil cooler to make sure it's not blocked like mentioned above.

Re: 1965 Corsa clone, but a sweeeeeet one
I found that while I was balancing the carbs, as things warmed up more to full operating temperature, the driver's side carb was no longer closing fully. Adjusting that linkage 1 turn then made the car almost stall, so up the idle set screws on both carbs equally till happy. Uni-syn says things are ...

Re: My 61 Monza
With all the air flowing in through the hood louvers the temps stay fairly constant while it's running, near ambient due to the flow to cool the engine. Of course, it does heat up after shut down. Even with the turbo motor won't change it much. That being said, I like the idea of mounting them remot...
