Re: Previous Convention T-Shirt Donations Needed - 2024 Dayton Convention Raffle
Good effort. That begs the question: Would that collection of intact T-shirts fetch more at auction than your wife's lovely blanket?

Re: Aluminum or stamped steel oil pan?
I don't recall having any leaks using my stock stamped steel pan. Using cork composition gasket with Ultra copper silicone on both sides, easy to remove. Never used the "Right Stuff" sealant but I'm sure it's even better. Straighten the pan per Larry Clayton's PG video https://youtu.be/hC_...

I may join just to vote for Davemotohead! Sure sounds like Vargas has done more harm than good and overstayed his welcome.

I like it all! You could have also gone carbon fiber weave inside those rear cove pieces.
I plan to put carbon weave wrap in my LM's rear cove, the area painted silver on Corsas.

Nice! I bet you can get a nice massage sitting in the back seat with some serious bass thumping. :)

Re: cylinder 6 acting up
You can remove the head(s) without removing the engine, just lower it a bit at the rear and take out the carb studs.

Re: What’s inside the tank?
Your tank is in much better shape than mine was! I saved this tank via chain shaking, Evaporust and Red Kote tank liner but it took way too many hours and ~$90 in materials. I wouldn't do that again. Jeepers! New tanks are now $250-300, IIRC they were $150 in 2021. Now Red Kote is $40-50/qt, it was ...

The truth is, no one has conclusively identified the cause of flat tappet/cam problem. Even professional engine builders are getting bitten when they never had before. Lots of speculation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqujFL9QrGs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbwu7r7qqfc https://www.youtube.com...

Re: shell rotella? what say you/
As for High Zinc oils, we don't need them, if we are using the proper rated oils recommended by richard1. Thanks, but until richard1 cracks the case of the current flat tappet/camshaft failure epidemic that continues to plague professional engine builders and drives builders and machinists alike to...

Re: shell rotella? what say you/
Castrol GTX Classic is high zinc and widely available. Amazon sells a 5-qt jug for $25:

Only downside is that it's 20W-50. Better for warmer weather and older motors. Supposedly too thick for break-in.
