+1 to Ted's assessment. American flat 6 can provide heads that have deep seats, much less likely to drop a valve seat. Americanflat6.com
I trashed a great running 140 rebuild with the dreaded #5 intake drop, sucked some into #3 it was having so much fun trashing 5 and it wanted into the party too. :(

Re: Passenger door in my convertible will not open
I saw the car for sale down south of me a couple of weeks ago. Wanted to go look at it but could not pull it off. If you are still in Oregon with it, I'd be happy to come around and have a look, depending on how far from Eugene you are. I sent you a Private Message (PM) would love to help get 'er ba...

I saw that Vair on Craigslist, where are you located? Still in Oregon with it? I'd love to lend a hand after the new year if you are near Eugene.

Re: 1965 Corsa clone, but a sweeeeeet one
Oh, and you either have to notch the rubber hose material they use to connect carb to air cleaner or remove the tabs from the carb tops that the old air cleaner tube clipped to with the J bolts. I went with the latter eventually when I had all 4 carb tops powder coated. The old hose had the notches ...

Looks like they were de-flashing the heads in one of the pictures above.

Re: My first corvair (corvan)
If it is a stick shift, the "mystery shifter" can be an issue. Slop in the shift linkages can make it tough to find some gears.

Re: 1965 Corsa clone, but a sweeeeeet one
They came with my car, but they are the Clark's version. The 140 crankcase ventilation tube was rotated and a hole with a grommet was plumbed into the passenger side air cleaner so crankcase gases are run back through the engine. The only thing I would improve is to move the orifice tap to the other...

Re: Noob Questions
I use an electric pump with the safety cut-out that allows it to run for a few seconds with the engine not turning to allow the bowls to fill. If that isn't long enough, one can shut off the key and turn it back on for another few seconds of run time with the engine not cranking. That is usually lon...

Re: 1965 Corsa clone, but a sweeeeeet one
I think I have all the fittings I need to plumb engine vacuum to my new MAP sensor. Plug wires may get here as early as today. Need to refresh my understanding of the operation of the SDS-4 ignition system portion. I have tested the crank angle sensor pick-up before, but will re-verify. Looking forw...

Re: 1965 Corsa clone, but a sweeeeeet one
Mounted my MAP sensor above the transaxle and connected the wiring. Still need to port some vacuum to it through the plate that covered the fresh air hose opening and T it into my balance tube. Integrated all the SDS wiring into my main harness with the new cables leaving where they need to except t...

Re: 1965 Corsa clone, but a sweeeeeet one
Along with the reverse light switch for a 66-69 as my 65 has been retrofitted with the later transaxle, I need two new brake and clutch pedal pads.
