Re: Warning- Ca. Corvairs
Not unheard of a new master cylinder being bad right out of the box. It happens. If it is a bad master, how is that Jeffs fault? Perhaps he felt the pedal pressure was acceptable? I don't have a specific answer as I am not you, Jeff or seen your car in person. I'm not defending Jeff. Nor am I on you...

Re: Need help with insuring my Corvair.
I started out with American Collector Car, they did charge me extra because of the tt II wheels. Was about $150 a year agreed iirc. We moved to a house with no garage and they dropped me. Understandable.
Currently have hagerty. Very easy to deal with. Agreed value and no mileage limits.

Re: Stranded
Back together!! Didn't have much time after most of the assembly was completed. I did take it down my street and back, nothing fell off or broke. I still have two pieces to install, the engine mount cover and the rear grill. The bolt seal for the new oil filter is leaking real bad, I'll check that a...

Exactly why it's worth the $133 from Clarks. All the time, fuel, thinking is taking care of. open box, install parts. Done.
It is gratifying doing it all yourself!

Exactly what Dave said.
Whatever rust is visible, there is probably 3 times that amount that you can't see.

Pulled the drivetrain today. Love my harbor freight lift cart! I picked it up just for this. Anyway, removed the diff top cover. Pieces of spider gears in the carrier. I'll put things back together with my spare diff hopefully later this week. I have a detail job I need to get done first.

On the front, un bolt bolt the brake reaction rods (2 bolts) from the lower control arms, it will allow them to swing down further.

I did mine, removed the shock and some persuasive pry bar use. The rubber brake hose will hold the arm up. If things aren't too rusty and you don't mind bleeding the brakes, remove the brake hose.

Mines angled down a bit. Worked on a 66 4dr last week, it too was at a angle.
