Re: Huge Dutch car collection and a Corvair!

What an amazing collection. Looks like three Corvairs included from the auction house list:

87 - Chevrolet Corvair Convertible S 1964
91 - Chevrolet Corvair Coupe Monza 1964
94 - Chevrolet Corvair Convertible S

Re: Need to order weather strip....

Is this what you’re looking for? On sale

https://www.steelerubber.com/hardtop-ro ... 83-1005-68

I bought pillar weatherstripping from Steele for my ‘63 when Clark’s was out of stock for an extended period and was very pleased with the quality (wasn’t cheap though!)

Re: New guy. Put a deposit down on a 64 Spider Coupe.

A great resource to find a Corvair is your local chapter of CORSA (if there is one in your area). I know guys in our chapter and in the other west coast chapters are always coming across cars and asking around if anyone is interested. Plus you get an active Corvair person who may know its history or...

Re: ‘63 Spyder Convertible

Thanks Dennis! Appreciate the comments.

I will say a white interior is worth its weight in gold when the car is parked in the summer sun with the top down! ::-):

Re: ‘63 Spyder Convertible

Then had the local shop install the top. I went with Clark’s original white heavy duty top.

Re: ‘63 Spyder Convertible

Over the holidays and into January, I finally got the top done. Removed the frame after taping over all the painted surfaces to protect them (did it by myself but definitely recommend this as a two person job!). 475F193F-4A86-416E-9275-1F1F416F57A4.jpeg Then disassembled into major components and ju...

Re: Hello from Millstone Township, NJ

Corvairs have a really good number of parts vendors, just a few of the main ones: Clark’s Corvair Parts, they are the largest Corvair parts dealer, and do have some sheet metal. Also some rebuilding/machine shop services. Located in Massachusetts. https://ssl.corvair.com/user-cgi/pages.cgi?category=...

Re: Hello from Millstone Township, NJ

They are riveted on, definitely not screws. Just like other GM cowl tags at the time. Should look like the rivets on the red ‘63 body tag photo above.

Re: Hello from Millstone Township, NJ

For checking to see if it is an original ‘63 Spyder, the body tag located at the rear of the engine compartment should have a “C” after the “3” in the accessory line. Like the photo below. This is for cars made at the Willow Run plant where the majority of ‘63 Spyder’s would have been built. Willow ...

Re: Early model CONVERTIBLE carpet

Yes, stay away from permanent glue! I found double sided carpet tape to work very well (used the stuff at the link below). Sticky enough to hold it down but you can still pull it up later without damaging the threads. And then use new tape if needed. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BO4QZ0/ref=...

Re: What about the name...

Im guessing now the proper name for the vair i have is... A mouthful. Lol 1963 Corvair Monza Spyder Convertible? As you said your car is a 1963 Corvair Monza Spyder Convertible. Others may have more sources to suggest. That’s it! It is a long title, but accurate. The “Spyder” was built from 1962-19...

Re: Posi-traction warning Sticker

Scott, unlike the late models, early models had them attached to the trunk lid. They are just paper, glued on, ~6.5” wide x 5” high

Re: Carburetor book for setting and rebuilding 1965 carbs

Seth’s book is more around high performance work, I think the book you are referring to is by the late Bob Helt, it’s a great book for working on the Corvair Rochester carbs and fairly easy to understand. Highly recommend. You can get it from one of the Corvair vendors like Clark’s or even at Amazon...
