Re: 65 Corsa Convertible project

I love those IROC wheels, a straight bolt on, hassle free and really give these cars a good stance. I just wish they were so easy to obtain from this side of the pond. Car looks very nice indeed.

Re: 65 Monza 110 PG Vert in Blighty

Hi y'all. Sorry it's been a while since I updated this thread. After the breakdown I parked up the Vair and she is still there. I had some friends visiting me at the end of August (a bank holiday here in the uk) and we were going to a car event which lasted the whole weekend and the intention was to...

Re: Naming cars: I don't think its weird

Here in the UK (unless you have a private registration), the plate stays with the vehicle. Most enthusiasts I know give their car a name, usually female, based on the digits of the registration. Mine is PWT129C and haven't come up with anything yet. Patricia perhaps?

Been offered some engine bits...

A friend of a friend had a Corvair many years ago and kept the parts he got with the car. He's asked if I might be interested in buying the parts. There's a mix of brand new and old. He's got a new engine case which I'm wondering whether it's compatible and he's sent me a picture of the number on it...

Re: 65 Monza 110 PG Vert in Blighty

Well, Monday was a mixed bag of sh!te for me and my Vair. I was meant to be attending a car show that a friend was organising which would be a 200 mile round trip. The (uber early) morning start went well, she started up fine and the sat nag was hooked up and we were on our way. After a couple of mi...

Re: Mark your calendars - Wheeler Dealers Corvair Episode - 8/31

A most enjoyable episode with engine out action. I was hoping to learn from the pushrod exercise Ed did but I think I'll watch Dave's video instead!

Re: 65 Monza 110 PG Vert in Blighty

Thanks Doug and Dave. I'm certainly enjoying her. I have a friend vacationing in Illinois right now, he's gone over with an empty suitcase and is hopefully bringing me lots of spares back. I don't mind spending out on my Vair, it's just the postage and our money-grabbing HMRC that bumps up the bill ...

Re: 65 Monza 110 PG Vert in Blighty

Ok, update time... My superior speedo cable came through from Clarkes. I found out why it had gone wrong previously as I found the end of the old speedo cable snapped off in the hub... image.jpeg So, the new cable was fitted without much faff but it twirls around like a whirling dervish. So, time to...

Re: 65 Monza 110 PG Vert in Blighty

Hi all,

Not much to report. Have some spares ordered from Clarke's which am waiting to come through. In the meantime took her to a car show and managed to park next to another! Could this be the first time two Corvairs have appeared at the same UK car show? :tu:

Re: Cad-kid's 65 Monza - my first Corvair

Good job Jeremy! My seats need sorting out especially now that I have discovered that mine would have had red seats when new. I'm presuming that red seats means the door cards and carpet would have been red too, which is a bummer as that's all black in mine so will have to be changed too. Rome wasn'...

Re: 65 Monza 110 PG Vert in Blighty

Thanks Brad! Interesting to know my car would have had red vinyl seats and a white top. Both of which need replacing. It would be nice to put those items back to stock!

Re: 65 Monza 110 PG Vert in Blighty

Hi y'all, Just put in an order at Clarkes and I'm very impressed with their customer service. So hopefully I should get some things fixed soon and update to follow. In the meantime can someone help this dumb lazy Brit decode his vin tag? Should there be one in my driver's door jam as there isn't one...

Thanks Jeremy! Apologies for typos and photo repeat, I use my iphone to post from but it's hard work sometimes and I get 'fat thumb syndrome'... ::-):
