Re: High Pressure spring
On Saturday I dropped the engine rear mount, pulled the oil pressure regulator spring and put a 5\16-inch steel ball bearing on the end of the spring that goes into the so-called valve which is actually a cup. The result has been an increase in oil pressure across all rpm ranges and oil temperatures...

High Pressure spring
Has anyone out there installed the high pressure oil regulator spring that Clarks offers? Page 12 item C7646. I want to up the oil pressure in my 110 engine in a 65 Corvair. This engine runs great but for oil pressure, running a 15-40 weight oil. Would like to see 30 psi. or above at 3000 rpm at a 2...

Pull up Fuel dribbling from cluster arms by m37aswell. I found and defeated this problem a few months ago.

Re: Valve cover not budging
O- those valve covers will come off there one way or another. Maybe get a punch behind one of the edges and tap with a ball peen hammer, then use a thin coat of Permatex #2 on both sides of the gasket on reinstallation. Torque to spec. according to your shop manual on install. Totally unnecessary to...

Re: Alternator Rebuild
That first video, never use wire a wire wheel in that manner without eye protection. All craftmanship aside, all kinds of red flags going on. If you have done this sort of thing before with no ill effect that's good luck so far, but it's only a matter of time before you strike out.

Rear wheel alignment
1965 Monza. I have a rear tire on the pass. side that skids off the tread on the outside edge over time, so I backed out the 4 adjustment bolts [and anti-seized them] in preparation for the alignment shop. Shop manual leads me to believe this is a simple toe in issue. The rubber bushing does not loo...

Re: Broke a Torque Arm Bracket Bolt
I am going to have to do this exact same thing this spring on one of my 65s. It looked to me that these bolts may erupt through the other side in their own little "box" structure which you may be able to see through a factory drain hole at the bottom of the car. I put my remote camera len...

Turn signal issue
The turn signals are doing something strange on my 65. These tests are being done with the key in the acc. position. The right turn signal operates normally in all respects. When the left turn signal operates the dash lights also flash with it, but then when you pull the park lights on the signal ju...

Re: Oil cooler removal
I did this job the other day, the shroud-work on the top and bottom of the cooler did not interfere with its removal like I thought it might. The shroud to the left of the cooler did however particularly because the dual exhaust stock Corvair muffler bracket is sandwiched in there as well. [If you h...

Oil cooler removal
I want to replace the 2 seals on the oil cooler, does it come right out ok with all bolts removed or does the shroud work try to "pinch" it in place so that you might have to pry it out alittle to get it come away from the block?

Detonation
I hate that momentary death rattle knock I get with the engine just coming off idle and starting to move the car. 1965 110 engine with PG. I have backed the timing off so far that the engine becomes a "dog" but that did not seem to get rid off it. I am wondering about that Clarks high stal...

Re: Valve lash
I understand all of this completely, and I think it is good to put your excellent explanations and illustrations out there. I guess what I am asking is if there is a consensus among the veteran Corvair owners {mechanics} as to which method is best for whatever reason.

Valve lash
I am replacing the o rings on the pushrod tubes and the girdles so what is the best way to reset valve lash? The shop manual seems to outline the most "sanitary" way, so why would I not try it that way? I have adjusted some tappet noise away while running with a cut-away valve cover but it...

Heater fan replacement
How much of a pain is it going to be to replace the heater fan motor in my 64? I want to replace it with a high-speed fan from Clarks. I did the job in one of my 65s and was alittle tight but was done easy enough. The 64 looks tighter, I wonder if I will end up dropping the trans dipstick tube [auto...
