Success! Valves were too tight, you all were right! I couldn't find the proper TDC, because I recently removed all the top stuff to replace fan bearing oil cooler seals exedra, I have a bunch of different parts on order from different stores waiting for them to come in, so then decided to check comp...

Thanks for the info and pics! I will look into the passenger side valve cover and double-check those valves before I pull the motor, so I will say looking at all the rocker arms none of them look over tightened , not too loose they all look very similar if that means anything

The more I get into this car the more I know it hasn't been used and quite a few years, I really don't mind tearing into everything, and winters project is the perfect time, thanks!

Thanks for those suggestions, I will definitely try that, I figured I'd be pulling the heads off ,and checking stuff out, but it's just weird 0 compression., I did not open the passenger side valve cover yet cuz harder to get to with the muffler in the way and whatnot

Unless I have the wrong shop manual for my late model 65,,the steering shaft is different from the em,to late model but I don't know about the steering assembly in the steering column

Hey guys I got myself into a little situation when I took my steering column off to check the lower bearing after dismantling bottom end of steering column to check Bering, which bearing was fine, I later found a spring lying on the ground,that my 65 manual says it goes in between the spongy gasket ...

I think that's the one, thanks, I'm going to try to get that steering plate off tonight and check into it,I put some penetrating oil on it and worked it around it moves but it's a little crusty

so I've been researching all the PDF files I've got from The forum, (which are totally awesome)and I found this picture of this steering shaft plate,that I think the bearing is in, not sure how easy or hard it is to take that bracket off, I haven't seen any info how to take this off in the manuals

Update part 2! Seems there is nothing wrong with the gearbox believe it or not, I dismantled halfway cleaned it all up checked everything for wear, seems fine, greaser back up and then noticed the problem is with the steering shaft bearing Midway through the car is a little rusty crusty bearing, tha...

Update! I pulled the gearbox out with the entire steering shaft (it is the late 65 model where the shaft is two pieces) no biggie! Also busted into the gearbox and am checking it out thanks everybody

Because there is not a seal rubber boot or gasket on that steering wheel shaft going into the gearbox

Thanks for all the info guys! I understand what you are saying! Though there's a lot of information to take in I will take this job slowly,my only question at this point is, is it possible to take the shaft off the gearbox at the gearbox? , if you can't get the shaft out of the gearbox how do finall...
