Re: Corvair of the Month August 2011

to JT Vairs: Had to ask! What is the lump next to your rear vent below the back window?
Is it a cell phone, a hidden key box, or a camera cover??

Maybe a top secret device! Aloha!

Re: Corvair of the Month April 2011

First of all; very nice wagon! I am a dyed in the wool LM fan though. That leaves three sharp, ALL deserving! My last three cars have all had sunroof leak issues. ( I bought each of them anyway because of their overall rarity... (( the cars, not the sunroofs)) ) In my rainy climate, a convertible ju...

Bought a Monza recently, but not what you think!

It's been about 11 yrs. or so since I had a rear wheel drive car. ( '85 6.2 D Suburban doesn't really count((4X4)) ) The last one was a '77 Buick Skyhawk w V6, 4spd. Love Vairs, but in current budget; I need more mpg's, and my personal bent for a Vair tends toward an 215 alum. V8 ! I don't have a ga...

Re: chevrolet impala trivia question/challenge?

Thanks to Swampthings response in the post below titled Cars you may have owned, I was able to narrow the field down, and could probably get away with any '79-'89. The newer euro style came next (fish bowl ?) Aloha!

Re: chevrolet impala trivia question/challenge?

Thanks for your input Kevin! The reason I mentioned a chrome front bumper is because the lack of them now. From your pics., I'm thinking somewhere between '79 and '84 or so. I just don't know which yr. they quit the chrome altogether. My easiest yrs. for identification are (any Chevies, full sized) ...

A help for long distance breakdowns?

I don't know how many of you take your Vairs out on the road for long trips, but even if you were trailering it, or driving anything; wouldn't be nice to call up a friend "in the area of your breakdown or trouble?" In the membership of the National Street Rod National Association; they hav...

chevrolet impala trivia question/challenge?

I recently was watching the full sixth season of Mr. Monk. In one show, it showed his wife Trudy getting into an all white plain Impala with dog dish hubcaps, as she turns the key igniting the bomb. I'm trying to pinpoint the exact proper year of this Chevy. It was old enough to have a real chrome f...

Re: Do you enjoy watchin skillful driving/riding regardless

Hey Mini man! That was awesome. I wasn't expecting the reverse wheelie at the end. That does make me wonder if he doesn't have adjustable brake bias controls.... or a more juvenile thought that he has an E- brake on sterroids!!!! Aloha!

Do you enjoy watchin skillful driving/riding regardless ?

Regardless of name brands? If you go on U Tube to Rally Movies to the Ford Capri on snow, you will see some amazing car control! Toward the end, he does get fairly close to a guard rail. Also; if you get a DVD on any recent yrs. coverage of the annual Isle Of Man Motorcycle Racing, one of the specia...

Re: Does anyone have literal Corvair toys?

Hi Kevin; Thanks for sharing your toys and models with us. I must say that after reading several of your posts, that you have to be the most dedicated one brand car guy I have ever heard of! I feel twice humbled because of your excellant presentation, and also that I think I may have goofed in that ...

Does anyone have literal Corvair toys?

HI! I was just checking out the Corvair model posts, when I suddenly remembered; I have a rampside PU w Camper still down in my Mom's basement!!! I'm 56, and my brother is 50, and we still have all of our childhood toys at Mom's. I don't visit her too often, but Mother's Day is coming up! We have an...

My question pertains not tech to movies, but regarding the old Bonanza show. I remember the Chevy commercials, and believe there were some Vairs in there. Anybody have tapes from then????? Aloha!

Re: Corvair of the Month February 2011

Hi Lior; I love your ride. It's very nice! Obviously, it must have been very expensive to ship your Vair there. That shows me how much you care about it! A curiosity question.... most of us have a vague idea that Israel is somewhat similar to the size of Rhode Island. Excuse me if I sound silly, but...

Re: Coeff of Drag and Frontal Area on a LM?

I don't know if you guys think it would be terrible to depart from the LM's very nice front end or not...but I dream about a "glass front end that would even imitate George Poteet's BLOWFISH 2nd Gen. Barricuda, and also eliminating (to me) the ugly gas filler door! A flush racing hinged cap is ...
