So now we are going to mine the sea floor to dig up all those poisonous minerals to make the batteries. how is that eco-friendly? Kill the ocean and you kill the planet. Making batteries lighter with more energy is like trying to put the amount of explosive energy in a stick of dynamite into a firec...

What ever method you use, fasten a chain around the spring and control arm for added safety. Keep your head out of the wheel well when releasing tension!

Re: garage art

2LZ, nice bikes you have there. Mr. Bill looks just like me after I finished my 62 coupe. Those are the exact same parts I had left over when i was done. I still don"t know where they go. The only difference is I had a lot more bottle caps! I hope this thread keeps going, I love seeing other peo...

Re: garage art

Thank you all for the kind comments. Mr.Motohead, that 65 sign would be hanging in my house. I like the AC service and general gas signs. They will be going on my to do list. AZDave. Those cutaways are impressive. I like how you even have them lighted. I always thought about doing something similar ...

garage art

The long cold Wisconsin winters are tough, so I have been holed up in my basement reproducing old advertising signs with things I find at the local thrift shops. I use old dartboards, clocks,or anything i can find. I draw the design out and then hand paint them like a paint by numbers. My goal was to...

That pioneer supertuner you have under the dash is awesome! Even if it doesn't work, I would keep it just for the look.

Re: shell rotella? what say you/

I bought the t4 rotella and will use it in the corvairs. The other two cars have catalytic converters, so i will just use the cheapest oil of the right viscosity in those. Mr 69monza, I know todays oils are far superior and do not break down as fast as years ago but it is the oil filters i worry abo...

shell rotella? what say you/

I know. I know. another oil question but here is the situation. My local home improvement store has shell rotella diesal 10w30 for $2.80 a quart. I have 4 cars that use 10w30. Two corvairs, a 1986 cavalier with a 2.8 v6 and a 2008 chrysler sebring with a 3.5v6. The corvairs and cavalier never get mo...

All I can say is WOW! Those are some great looking cars. I love the color of the 65 and how clean the engine bays are. That company should of paid you for the privilege to look at them. I hope you get them on the road and enjoy them and not let them sit like the former owner. Keep us posted.

Last drive of the year

It's almost 50 degrees here in WI, and I could not resist taking the corvair for the one last drive of the year. It starts good, runs good, stops good. There are a few things that need tweaking, but nothing major. I'm looking forward to taking it to the car shows next summer. In no way is it a troph...

Re: Lm Brake Drums

Old school method.Put the wheels back on. Leave the lug nuts a little loose. Drive down your driveway and slam on the brakes I have also found opening the bleeder screw helps before you start hammering away at the drum.
