Re: 1964 Monza Sedan
It looks great! I bet you have it running in no time. My biggest concern would be the fuel system. Don"t get to anxious to start it though, I"m sure you know the drill of starting a car that has been sitting for years. Good luck and congratulations!

Re: Hydraulic Pressin'
I just completed a total rebuild of my steering and front and rear suspension. Without access to a press I installed all bushings, the ball joints and u-joints using various sized sockets and a bench vise. Some of them I used the freeze and heat method. The front lower ball joints and rear control r...

Re: New Member - Talk me out of this??
Run away! You should be able to find a running and driving corvair for under 6k. then do your own improvements and modifications to your liking. That one will be sitting in your garage for years.

Re: EM rear grill
If you had the engine in the car you could get one of those cheap infrared thermometers and see if there is a difference in temp between the old grill and your new one. I am impressed with your fabrication skills. I like mild custom touches like that. If you could keep the price reasonable you could...

Re: John’s 65 sedan
Keep up the good work John. You are doing one hell of a job. Not to many people would tackle a project as as big as yours. Most people have no idea how much work it is to restore a car. I often get the comment, "are you still working on your corvair?" They think you throw a coat of paint o...

Re: my spare vair-65 pg
It has been awhile since I posted but a whole lot of life got in the way of getting anything done on the Corvair, My wife got t-boned at 55mph and rolled the car over a few times. Only by God's grace and seat belts did she walk away with only some bad bruises. spare vair 014.jpg spare vair 015.jpg s...

Re: my spare vair-65 pg
I spent six hours today with the wire wheel, wire brushes, thread chasers and de-greasers cleaning up my steering box.I also drained and flushed it and is now ready for some new lubricant. The old oil came out in the form of small soft globules and bad smelling brown oil.The shaft turns 5 revolutions ...

Re: my spare vair-65 pg
The new gas tank arrived yesterday. It is so nice and shiny, I just can"t bring myself to paint it. I lightly scuffed it up with a 3M pad and gave it three coats of gloss clearcoat. Don"t know if it will last but it sure looks good now. I have every component ready to install it when that ...

Re: my spare vair-65 pg
Dropped the gas tank. Super easy without the front suspension in. Tank looked good from the outside but the inside is toast. Tons of rust and crud inside. I think someone tried to seal it at one time and whatever they used is coming off in chunks. The gas gauge worked and the sending unit looks new ...

Re: Steering wheel will not fitting on shaft
I agree with monzaguy,I had similar issues. you have to either pull up on the whole shaft housing or just the switch housing to meet up with the wheel. Take your time, you'll get it.

Re: my spare vair-65 pg
Winter is finally over here in wisconsin so it"s time to get back to work on the 65. I had the front crossmember sandblasted and primed.(too big to fit in the blast cabinet) I used a hammered black paint. All new bushings ,ball joints, and most of the hardware. I pressed in every bushing and lo...

All i can say is WOW! You really have something there if it is that original and untouched. You should take a ton of pics of every part of that car for documentation. Lets see the engine bay and trunk.

Outstanding! I love the beltline trim. I noticed you added trim rings to the dog dish hubcaps. I have baby moons with trim rings on my 62.

Re: 3D printed '60 Corvair logo
Looks great! How long does it take to print? I know 3d printing can be pretty time consuming. Tell us about your set-up. I know all the high end car restorers like Jay Leno use 3d all the time.
