Re: Clifford aluminum oil pan

Good info gents, thanks. Gonna look at the pan again. I like the fact that it has internal fins, kinda, I’ll post pics. I’m thinking of maybe modifying it slightly, maybe not make it so deep. I also plan, when I rebuild my front suspension, to lower the front end, this might help with clearance issu...

Clifford aluminum oil pan

Just picked up an old Clifford aluminum pan and valve covers all three with fins. The oil pan is a deep sump, is there an extension for the oil pick up or do I just get a "deep pick up tube" right now Clarks does not have any. Not that I need a deep sump pan, just thought the set was cool ...

Re: turning over but no fire off

gentlemen, thanks for the info. I have been working on engines for a bit but never a Corvair or VW for that matter. Never had to get a remote starter button, now I will. Asa far as adjustment, I'll re-check em. Just didn't know if there were any special procedures for the Corvair. Guess I need to fi...

Re: turning over but no fire off

dennis66 you may be right there, I did the adjustment cold. I had the #1 at TDC, unless I need to do that at the 16*BTDC?
Got the compression tester, I'll check and dry the 'cold adjustment again.

thanks gents

turning over but no fire off

Folks, I had a running car. Anyway, replaced all the pushrod tube "O" rings, cleaned up the heads around the pushrod tubes, repaired the oil pan and resealed the oil pan and valve covers. Removed the old, rusted exhaust and replaced with new "U" tubes and installed some Harly muf...

Shipping possibility

Just tossing this out there. Unemployed right now but I do have a 16’ car trailer. Trailer has no winch but I do have a come along and a 12k winch that slides into the receiver on my truck. I’m in the Florida pan handle so not looking for nation wide coverage, just southeast and maybe a little more....

better atomization? (those running single 4bbl carb)

Got a 65 vert 140 4 speed. I picked up a single 4bbl set up minus the carb. I'm down in the panhandle of fl so don't bother this post with (add the oil heater thingy to the intake) unless it will help with the subj. So, vice the straight intake runners, would adding something like a small turbo whee...

Re: Lower covers needed?

I’m thinking of taking the doors off altogether and put the covers back on. With them on and car moving, maybe it will have a wind tunnel effect kinda and help draw the heat off.

Re: Dead horse, 4bbl carb on 140 engine.

bbodie52 , I would like to do the FI but not a fan of the cost. I like making "junk yard mods" for stuff like that. Actually have a few of the Chevy TB setups. One might be going on the 71 F250 I have, humm wonder if something like that would work on the 4bbl set up??? I also might just go...

Lower covers needed?

I guess this question is for folks in the warmer areas of the country. I'm down in the panhandle of Fla and was not planning on keeping any of the heater stuff on the vert. Got a few ideas for an electrical set up for defrost and heat when needed. So with that said, are the lower covers and those ve...

Dead horse, 4bbl carb on 140 engine.

I know there are a ton of posts out there, but haven't see too much conversation on what I got. Picked up a set up while I was in Phx a few weekends ago. Thing is, this one came with a Holley 2bbl. Granted, the 2bbl is bigger then the primary's in a 4bbl so might need to modify is a little bit. My o...
