Re: Where does the wire harness lead?
Clarks sells the plugs and also the terminals , but then you need the proper crimping tool to do a good job . I would just change both harnesses and be done with the problem. ( note , I bought an engine harness from Clarks that had two wires crossed) (in the wrong place in the plug ) big trouble fi...

Re: Jerky / Stuttering Engine
If your still using the standard mechanical fuel pump, you should not have to drain the tank to remove it or disconnect it. Only places you have to worry about it is if you disconnect the rubber line between the tank and the fuel line under the passenger side foot well.

Re: Fully independent suspension update to early models
The only way to get tuck under would be a failure of the shock. If it is a concern you could install a cable hard stop strap also. Really though to get tuck under would be really difficult considering when you go around a turn the natural shift of weight is going to cause the outside tire to see mor...

Re: Fully independent suspension update to early models
Dobbertin makes a kit to adapt C6 corvette IRS to any car. I wonder how much work would be involved in adapting it to bolt up to the corvair power pack and body mounting locations? Would make a very interesting project.

Re: Frustrating Exhaust Leak, Early Turbo
Best turbo response would be a welded pipe, but that is difficult in the area you have and then will almost always require cutting to remove. I wonder if you could cut it and put in more of a donut gasket like what comes out of the exhaust manifolds.

Re: 1963 Spyder puzzle
Well the parts car is stripped down to a shell, so I should be done wasting time there. I managed to get the fan and all the sheet metal back on the car along with mounting the blower and carb. Next is the crossover pipe and throttle linkage. I did a little rerouting of the fuel line in the engine c...

Re: Hand Brake Cable{s} Sources?
Unfortunately the only place to get a new rear cable is Clark's. The armor on their cable though is about a 1/2" longer per side and while it doesn't prevent its use, it does make it a tight fit. Also I had to use a lot of force an was worried about getting it in without kinking it. I later fou...

Re: 1963 Spyder puzzle
The last couple of days have drawn me away from the project. While I did get my rebuilt carb back and I also got a new blower bearing and hub pressed into my cover not much other work occurred. Well unless you want to count putting the chrome on my gas filler significant. Not that I have not been do...

Re: What goes in this hole on my door panel?
I think there is a plastic cup that mounts in the steel behind the panel and then the ashtray gets installed into the door panel. The plastic cup keeps things from rattling and also old ashes from going between the steel panels.

Re: 1963 Spyder puzzle
Well things are moving along, not as fast as I would like, but at least forward again. New flywheel in, power pack all back together and the engine is back in the car, just waiting for my carburetor and top cover with new pressed in bearing before I can go any further in that assembly. On a side not...

Re: Engine identification help needed
That has been a not so handy man special job on that. The block could be a turbo block, but if it is they removed the turbo and went to a dual carb set up. This was sometimes done because the turbos were harder to set up and tune or the turbo went bad. Definitely a make shift bracket for that altern...

Re: EM rear axle bearing
I'm sure it doesn't help the interference fit but I have never had issues with it. You just need the special tool to reach behind the bearing and grab the puller ring without damaging it. Since I have the tool I pull them off to repack them. They have shims to set the clearance also but the only wa...

Re: EM rear axle bearing
If your bearings are still ok, can you press them off and repack them or does it damage the bearing or hurt the interference fit?
