Re: Help Help Thermostat issue
The miss isn't mechanical. I took the spark plugs out on the passenger side bank and they were as black as coal. When I took off this morning. It sputtered and shot black smoke out. Now its missing even worse. And now the drivers side cylinder bank is starting to miss. They came out normal this morn...

Re: Help Help Thermostat issue
its not binding I had the cover off and everything seems in order though I know its not opening because it was almost 80 degrees here today and I put a block of wood to keep it open and it never fell out due to opening larger than the piece of wood.

Help Help Thermostat issue
I am kind of worried because the passenger side cooling flap does not open. And this is the same side that is missing. i don't know how long it has been like this but no more than a month. Could this condition have caused a burned valve or some other mechanical damage that would cause it to miss. I ...

Re: Tricks for repairing leaky powglide cable
Thanks AZDave! I know. I have heard it can be tricky but others have described the job as being pretty strait forward. I think it is getting the cable back in and attatched to the case. In any event. the cable has already been repaired in this manner and it doesn't seem to be leaking at the said rep...

Re: Howling sound
Does that home made bearing greaser work well. It seems to me I saw one somewhere on the internet or here made mostly of PVC. I was impressed and wanted to know if it worked so I could make one myself. Its probably a good idea to grease it as a preventative measure or should it be left alone. Sorry ...

Tricks for repairing leaky powglide cable
The title says it all. I have heard that the cable housing itself leak and that it can be repaired by cleaning it aplying silicone and placing a neoprene tube over the repair to protect it. I also hear removal of cable from transmission and reinstalation can be a tricky job. I am just wondering if i...

Re: Ramps do you use them?
Yeah Jackstands are the best bet but I actually use ramps for my 64 I put a brick behind them before I go up. It looks like its to low because of the mufflers but it works because the mufflers go up when the car starts up the ramp. I also use wheel chucks for safety. I am able to get under the car p...

Re: Could Governor Oring be leaking
OK I am starting to get it. The car leaks the most oil when it is JUST parked. That is to say that it leaks when I first park it, Is it safe to assume that it IS the o-ring on the governer then?

Re: simple distributer rotor question
I want to thank you again Brad. It seems to be running like a champ with little to no pinging. Though, shortly after start up this morning it missed a bit like it had before. But that evened out. It seems to be fine with 91 octane fuel in it. When it missed this morning it was during acceleration. I...

Could Governor Oring be leaking
Trying to trace auto tranny leak there is always a drip hanging from the governor. But there seems to be more on the ground than this seal would leak. Maybe it is a combination of the oil pan (which I just replaced and tried to flatten pan surface) and this governor seal. Do they typically leak? And...
