The miss isn't mechanical. I took the spark plugs out on the passenger side bank and they were as black as coal. When I took off this morning. It sputtered and shot black smoke out. its not binding I had the cover off and everything seems in order though I know its not opening because it was almost 80 degrees here today and I put a block of wood to keep it open and it never fell out due to opening larger than the piece of wood.

the service manual says that when the thermostat malfunctions it automatically locks open. ??? Doesn't seem to be the case....

Does that home made bearing greaser work well. It seems to me I saw one somewhere on the internet or here made mostly of PVC. Yeah Jackstands are the best bet but I actually use ramps for my 64 I put a brick behind them before I go up. OK I am starting to get it. The car leaks the most oil when it is JUST parked. That is to say that it leaks when I first park it, Is it safe to assume that it IS the o-ring on the governer then?

are you talking about amsoil diesel oil
